You'd really only need to spray if you have any insect or grub problems when fruiting.

Is it a fruiting plum or an ornamental?Keep in mind Plums that bear fruit generally need to be planted in pairs to pollinate.

Either way a general organic fertiliser applied at the appropriate rate and watered in well will do it good. Something like sheep manure mixed with blood n bone applied out to the dripline off the tree would work.

What do you mean by drip line?

The width of the tree, where any water off the leaves will fall to the ground

No spray for Fruit Fly. You need to use an attractant - basically a solution in a bottle hung in the tree.

A homemade trap such as the one in this link does the trick and works out a bit cheaper than the commercial options.

I pruned a clients plum tree back in early winter, she told me they hadn't had fruit on it for 4 years.
Turned up yesterday for the regular mow to find most of the blossoms had turned to fruit, one happy client:dance

You need to get them as the blossoms form though but after they have blossomed you can spray again. Leaf curl in stone fruits is bad in Adelaide.

Copper Oxychloride is another for Leaf Curl but you only spray for leaf curl when the buds are starting to swell, if blooming to late try again next year. I put a post on another thread here on how to make up Fruit Fly traps. If you PM me I will give you the info.
Congrats Courty, that's what pruning is all about now you just gotta keep the birds away.
