There are quite a few new or newish residential developments around the Wyong area that I'm going to target 1st up...mainly heading Northeast from Wyong. With the announcement recently of a new $500 million Chinese theme park development over the next few years I think this area is going to expand quite a bit.

Gidday all,
I'm a demolition labourer ready to take the plunge. I've got an 85 Hilux 4WD ute (with a few mod's). Got the trailer finished for my ride-on on Saturday, came home and did a search on starting a lawnmowing business and guess what I found? The most incredible site I think I could have found. 1000's of years combined knowledge among it's members who seemed to be more than willing to share that knowledge. Awesome deals for insurances etc that will be more than useful.
I am currently working in demolition but also have another small enterprise going...Tim The Assembly Man (specialising in flat-pak assembly). My current boss knows what I am setting up and is more than supportive so as far as I can see there's only one thing that can stop me making a successful business running and that would be me. Failing is not in my vocabulary at the moment.
I had a chat to Dean a couple of days ago and he sealed the deal for me so I joined this site and look forward to reading about and learning from everyones experiences.
I have a few regular clients now but will build on this till I can slowly wean my way out of the demolition game and concentrate on my own venture fulltime.

I have a Rover ES which I was given by one of my customers who retrieves mowers from peoples rubbish, rebuilds them and gives them to people who want them. I also have an MTD brushcutter, an MTD blower, Husqvarna line trimmer and a Stihl chainsaw.
I am currently building a full enclosure for the trailer to add a heap more advertising space and will then add the signwriting to both the ute and trailer so I'm seen everywhere.
NOW...to design some flyers.

Looking forward to chatting to and learning from you all.

Cheers...Tim

welcome fossilize but really you could at least put a link to (The most incredible site I think I could have found. 1000's of years combined knowledge among it's members who seemed to be more than willing to share that knowledge. Awesome deals for insurances etc that will be more than useful. ) instead of just talking about it :)

Going to start in the Northeast area from Wyong. A lot of new or not too old residential developments around the area now. Also with the recent announcement of the $500 million Chinese theme park that is going to be built locally I think the area is going to go through another major growth spurt shortly.

Welcome Mr F. Lize. Hope it goes well for you, Can't go wrong with an old Hilux (that is until it does a big end bearing on #4 cyl!).

That's one helluva a tray! Don't know about the big balls though.... :)

Cheers Paul. I put a rebuilt '90 model motor in him about 2 years ago so hopefully won't have any dramas like bearings for a while. It has a 15mm larger air intake than the '85 so goes a bit harder. Did the body myself. LHS drops right down and tailgate swings to the right. Tips via a 4 tonne exhaust jack with a PTO cable running through to the cab. All steel...I've carried and tipped a 1200kg load of asbestos off it. Needed to add the balls as I got sick of people saying "oh she's a ripper of a ute" and crap like that. Nothing lady-like about him at all.

Thanks Darren and Geoff,
Sorry Geoff, he's definitely not for sale...yet. I bought him about 3 years ago mainly because of the tipper tray it had at the time, just a plain tray and headboard, no sides. I decided to build a heavier body on it so we could use it on demolitions so set to the task pretty much straight away and that's how it ended up. Left side drops down so it can be side or rear loaded.
Next I put a '90 model motor in with greater air intake so it's got a bit more grunt. New shocks on the rear and beefed up the rear springs from 5 to 7 leaf. I've carried and tipped a 1200kg pack of asbestos off him. Also tows 2 tonne of excavator and trailer but wouldn't want to push it much harder. Not a speed demon or luxury ride but plenty of balls when called for. Have used it in 4WD quite a few times in winter to pull our 7 tonne truck out of some nasty spots (once was after an attempt by our supervisor to pull it out with his Cherokee resulting in a hell of a lot of smoke pouring out of his clutch).
A pair of mags and new tyres all round plus a rebuild on the rear diff and that's about all I'll be doing to him apart from continuing with the regular maintainance.
Hopefully after about a year in business I'll be able to upgrade to a 3 litre diesel and I'll be putting the body on that but converting it to hydraulic.
He's a real head turner at the moment but the thought has gone through my head to maybe even get a 6 wheeler, pop a V8 in it and build a bigger Bisalloy body...we'll see what happens.

Haha...hadn't thought of that Ian. Main difference in that is that in Thailand it's probably very rare to undergo a **x change at 25 years old.
