im just wondering about the durability in our line of work with the above phones as i know they are made of mostly plastic.ive had the motorola atrix for 2 years its pretty plasticy to,but it hasnt missed a beat,my holster is pretty well fully enclosed to prevent dust etc.seeing my atrix is up for a change im pretty keen for the samsung 4.cheers john

Hey mate I can tell ya the samsung galaxy s3 is a pretty good phone. However, I put it in my top pocket to get out of the car the other day, forgot about it and bent down to un-hitch the trailer and it fell out of my pocket from a towering height of about 1m. It landed on the front top corner and the glass screen shattered all the way down into about 100 pieces. The phone still works fine but to get it repaired is gonna cost $300. So I decided I'd try and fix my htc one xl (Which I'd "soft-bricked" a couple of months back by playin around with custom roms) instead. This time around I managed to get the bugger working due to new better software having been released since I originally stuffed it. But anyway I think the problem with the samsung is that the glass screen goes to the very edge of the front of the phone top and bottom making it very easy to smash when dropped. The htc has a good 10mm clearance at the top and a few mm at the bottom. I've dropped it a few times without any damage. Htcs are built a bit more solidly in my opinion...and the sense software is a bit easier to get your head around than the samsung touchwiz, which is nice but a big drain on battery and resources.

^^This pretty much. As long as you have one of those better 'defender' type cases, nothing is going to happen to it. I used to use an iPhone 4 with an Otter Defender case, have dropped out out of the truck onto concrete/asphalt many times, smashed it on hard surfaces, never any damage. Even just a normal gel case protects you from most things. My new Nokia Lumia 920 just has a gel case which takes a beating and it hasn't been damaged yet. I'd also get a micro-usb cap if the case you get doesn't cover the ports, it's a ***** getting stuff out of there that gets stuck.

The cases for these phones are really good, I think the leather flip type ones that hinge at the bottom are the best type.

Just on a side note if you're happy with the phone you've got why change phones my son has the iphone 4s and as his contract is up soon he can't see any point in 'up grading' the phone and paying about $90 per month when he can change to Amaysim for $40p/m and save enough to buy a phone outright in about 15months then he can get the iphone 6:)

if its just the front screen broken and not the lcd display then you can use one of these ebay kits :
