Hey b's and g's. Been off work for 7 days with shooting pain around my hip/ groin/ lower back area. I know you've all been really worried about me. ;) Apparently my left bung knee is the cause. Ive been favoring it and putting stress on my right side. I have knee pain daily knee daily, its my gardening and clutch knee. Ive had xrays, but yet to find out whats the go. The xrays look really good to my eyes, no visible difference in the right and left knee. I'm feel like its muscle related. Gone back to some strengthening exercises from my old phsio. Ive rested my butt off all week and im going stir crazy. The hip pain has almost gone tho. Thinking about having another 1-2 weeks off too. For me and my knee!
Its probably a little premature to post.
Ive written this cos id love to hear some bung knee stories. Has anyone fully recovered? Who did you see? ie physio, osteo, gp, massage, acupuncture, etc. Its the sh*ttiest time of year to make appointments too.
Anyway merry chris and a happy, prosperous and very healthy new year to you all.
Rae

had a knee prob a few years back, went to a new doctor at the nearest medical centre. This camel herder told me it was gout and gave me some pills - 2 weeks later and 2-3 visits later (and over 2 weeks on crutches) I arced up and demanded to see a specialist. A MRI then a ultrasound found a Bakers cyst, which was too late to operate on.....I still can't bend the knee as far as the other one........funny thing is, I had to (finally) find a doctor to treat my recently started gout, who has restored my confidence in doc's, and he is also hard to understand but a good bloke :)

My wife had a bung knee a few years ago and was going to physio weekly with no results except for her purse being a lot emptier!!!!!! I kept telling her to go and see my chiropractor, which she finally did. Within a minute of the consultation the chiro told my wife her hip was out and was causing the knee problem. Walked out 40 minutes later with no knee problem and never been to a physio, or had any knee problem since. This female chiro is animal chiro as well and does horses, dogs, you name it, with some pretty amazing results. A word of warning, most chiropractors are not worth going to as I can testify to, but when you find a good one, you'll never look back. We only go when we know something is wrong, none of this fortnightly/monthly rubbish. Whenever my sinuses play up it's the neck, any other slight twinges of pain, usually lower back. With my wife, her symptoms are usually pins and needles. As soon as symptoms appear we make an appointment and average a tune-up every six months and only $60. The hardest part is finding a proper chiro worth going to.

I blew my left knee last year ...tore my ACL along with both ligaments on either side of the knee joint, all cartiledge in the knee joint ruptured and finally the sack of fluid between the knee cap and knee joint also ruptured. basically, my knee detonated and my whole leg from the knee down had internal bleeding, the leg was black basically :| still not 100% ...nowhere near it really. was slated in for knee reco but cant afford the down time.

GN I had a hyperflex of my knee about 6 years ago when a machine I was unloading, handle bars collapsed and it ran back down the ramps and wiped me out. Knee was not good and I kept working for a couple days but my knee blew up and I could not bend it. I was off work for 3 months having Physio and heat treatment. Knee was still not good so I decided to get acupunture, This made a great difference to the knee so I had some on my thumbs as well, this also helped the pain. If you don't like needles then it may not be for you. Does not hurt just a pin prick, unless they hit a nerve, then it hurts. Mow and Go that's what income insurance is for.

Hey redeye I recently got diagnosed with a bakers cyst, big lump behind my knee. The doctor said I would need an operation. I started taking heaps of fish oil and glucosamine and it has gone away. Dont know if that fixed it but I am puting it down to that

Yep I take fish oil and Rosehip which is good for arthritis, I used to take glucosamine, but changed over to Rosehip. I can do most things but do feel the pinch when doing a lot of weeding.

Having some knee trouble atm. Left knee has been a bit iffy most of my life. It used to lock up a bit while driving, so I would have to stretch my leg until it cracked and it would be ok for a day or two. Nearly 13 years ago had a bit of torn cartilage removed and as a result I have osteo arthritis in that knee. Came good when I first started mowing nearly 10 years ago ( lost a heap of weight and got fitter ) but the last 2 years it has been giving me a bit of grief. Especially from February last year when we got a heap of rain. Been ok again for a couple of months until this week. It's been getting more painful as the week goes on and noticed last night it had swollen up, which is a first. Tossing up wether or not to attempt some work today and tomorrow or rest up. Problem is I have a specialist appointment Monday and don't want to fall behind.

Had bad knees for years. Had my first arthroscopy in my left knee in 1993 and it's still pretty good. Had one in my right knee in 1997 and they did a crap job. Had it redone in 2000 and then 6 weeks later I was climbing Uluru. They're both getting a little borderline again now, I can't squat and every now and then one or other gives me a bit of pain for a day or two but overall they still work. Cycling is good for knees.....I'm a bit slack though, I have a bike but don't use it much.

My doctor told me bike riding was good too but I haven't used my bike in ages. MRI booked for Thursday morning to see what's happening. Probably wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't for the fluid around the knee. I know I have arthritis and quite prepared to be told that's all it is.
