Does anyone have any tips on which are good companies to deal with regarding income protection in our field of employment...
and whether you've heard of companies that do/don't keep their side of the agreement. I'm hoping to save a bit of time comparing premiums and promises ;)
Cheers

I work in the superannuation and insurance industry and I can tell you that trying to find ANYONE prepared to offer income protection/continuation insurance to lawn mowing contractors is almost impossible.
The only ones I know of are the scheme through Indy and some general insurance products (ie are not a life insurance company product)...
Be prepared to be able to prove your income for the last 2 years. They'll want P&L Statements and or income tax returns. Problem is with ITR's that taxable income and actual income are two completely different things for the self-employed.
Don't even bother contacting the big life insurance companies..I know they don't do it.
