View Full Version : Relocating a Cumquat tree
Not sure if it belongs here, but can anyone give me some advice on relocating a Cumquat tree. it is a few years old and most probably 5 or 6 foot tall. Can it be relocated or is it a case of forget it
is it relocating from a pot or the ground
where are you from[conditions ]
and its always good to have another around [plant] when planting .can be tempramental
Hi, it is being relocated from the ground, it is in Upper Beaconsfield, Victoria, so about 2mm of top soil and the rest is clay
so this thing has been established in clay .it must be hardy .the best time of year to replant or relocate is late winter .get them re established by spring .always have another cumquat close by as well .

:wave-hi: Hi all, I have a similar problem.....I have a Lime and a lemon tree to relocate. They are currently in pots however have been left to establish and have rooted through to the ground. Both have fruit so have been there a while and stand about 5ft or so. Both are little beauties and would love to relocate them sucessfully. Someone has told me to dig around them and then cut the roots under the pot???Seems drastic to me??? :i dunno: Anyone out there that can help???

yep just cut around the pot and give a trim to slow down the loss of water from folage that cant be surported by the plant now as it has less roots.
so trim 1st
dig out next
cheers

Good stuff, cheers Scarie :)
and make sure you keep it well watered this summer as the roots will still be getting established then it should be right for next year on woulds
