Heres some pics of Micks demo on the Dane.

He was a pretty bloody good operator for his first time on a ZTR.

I had a bit of a moment on a steep hill and the little womens gunna be busy cleaning the skidys out of me daks but apart from that it was a good day and good to have chat with Mick.
Micks a top bloke and he was really good to his guest.

Being the good bloke that he is there was fridge full of coldies waiting when I arrived.

Bloody'ell I'm felling seedy today!!
The ol liver took a bit of beating last night!!!!

You tell young Becky that her Dad bought the wrong mower for tough stuff.

Hey Tonny
Do ya actuallly mow for a business or do ya just keep nice looking machinery.
How many hours has the Toro done as it still looks brand new ???
Do ya polish it regularly as it is good to know how to keep a machine so that its resale value is high??

Tony and his toro are just show ponies. The Toro is definatly a trailer queen getting pushed on and off the trailer. He has it entered in the thorobred class and the next national mower concours.Trying for a gold award.
Hate to see the owner that looks most like his mower.Could be horrific :)

I think im overtired :p going to bed now

Ahhh, you guys are just too funny! LOL!

Yes, I do mow for a living, full time. Not that I've done much this winter.

hours...can't remember, under 150 though, only bought it in feb. hasn't been very busy.

polish LOL. No, I don't polish it, it was on the trailer in the rain...

I do when working every day wash it once a week with car wash/wax just to keep it nice as it is still new...I just like clean vehicles, trailers, mowers, just a personal thing....then it gets greased, wd40 on any rustable bits, threads, linkages etc.

It does have scratches all over it, but I do put effort into keeping it as good as I can.

Novelty hasn't had time to wear off...

my last toro Z I kept spotless too, I just see these expensive things as something to keep nice, though just mowers, may as well have it shining as opposed to covered in crap.

By keeping it as good as I can hopefully it will give me a good resale value.

But, on the other hand, I take on ferral jobs a lot of guys wouldn't, check web site for a couple examples, when it works it really works.

and not much point taking pics of dirty mowers....they cost too much to be treated like crap.

Well, my brains working well enough to type stuff and put a few sentences together now! Was husting yesterday to be sure!

Just like to thank Alexs for taking the time and backing up his words by bringing his ZTR for me to try! Cheers Buddie! :russ:

What can I say, "I stand corrected" and "bloody hell that thing can climb" ....................

Like Al said, he did have a momment but that was because when he starded his desent, he was going a bit to fast. I was holding my breath I gotta say. He was "gooonnnneee!" hehe But he survived to drink another day!

For the record, we'd just had a little rain so didnt think he had a chance of getting up this hill. I didnt think it would do it dry realy. Id say most of this hill is over 30deg and again, the photos dont really tell the hole story.

Heres the Champ! hehe

Obviously my brain isnt working too well cos I signed in under Alex on that last post! :wave-hi: Ah well! :i dunno:

These are just to give an indication of how steep it is. Really doesnt do it justice though.

Heheeee
Nah....no break downs.............Just showing the man how much better the tank under the seat is for the steep stuff. (isn't that right Tony!heheeeeeehe)
Lower center of gravity, good wight distribution!!

mick

Thanks mate but full credit to Alex for taking it up there! Bloody show off!

Logged in under Alex cos we logged in under his name the other night and I hadnt been back on since then! Way too seedy!

Ha ha ha...

As I wasn't there I can't really say how the Toro would of went, but just going by these pics and the fact you look to be going up and down and diagonally I am quietly confident I could of as well.

Climbing the toro is fantastic, steep slopes facing down it will slide though. I mean steep though obviously.

The challenge would of been to mow that steep block there accross, this is the real test for a ztr.

going by the pics I would guess that my toro would of been a pig to steer accross in a straight line honestly.

if yas did mow accross and ya chariot didn't squirm on ya, well i'd say you have a better hill machine.

The feul tanks...never seen how yours is set up, good idea! less to get scrathched too! I carry 40lts on the toro, being over the drive tyres as they are helps with downward grip, a lot of weight there.

My easiest to fix problem is crappy turf master tyres, flat and gripless, don't stand a chance with slicks lol.

russ has gone over to another style, more grip and is impressed, i'll do likewise....what rubber ya running on that beast Alex?

mick
06-09-2004, 12:14 PM
Yeah, cheers for that mate! Whos this bloody redneck! "Heyyyyy!"

No its not very nice to rub it in there ol' mate! Look in that last pic, isnt that a skid! That hill is mowed with the same mower as mine and look, no skid marks and mowed safely! Just remember you lost it then recovered and lost it and recovered! I remember your face buddy! heeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Like I said earlier, I didnt expect a Z'd to get up that hill, and you proved me wrong! Now dont gloat! :wave-hi: Thats not nice!

Alex Callaghan
06-09-2004, 12:17 PM
I'm just using turf tyers mate.

Some sections on the way up were mowed across but as me and mick said the hill is steeper than it looks there. 2D dosn't really help with getting an idea of steepnes.

I would have been more comfortable mowing straight across if it hadn't have just rained!!

Tonyr
06-09-2004, 12:23 PM
Done a nice job, good on yas!

I hate to admit ha ha, but it is clearly obvious that ya Chariot is a winner! Great to conquer the challenging jobs hey, really lets you know how good your machine reallly is.

Top stuff!

Alex Callaghan
06-09-2004, 12:28 PM
Hahaaahaaaaaaa

I'm showing off agian aint I

Mabey I'm just a bad winner!! :russ:

Mabey I should stop or I'll loose control of the compter seat and go hurteling down the computer room floor. hahaaaaaa

Well thats all the pics, thought I had more but there ya go!

Honestly, It got up there very well, blew me away actually. Coming down looked a little hairy though but using the right technique Alex made it no worries, except that 1 time haaaaa :wave-hi: your face was a cracker! To be honest, it really was a hill to mow with a 4wd or brushcutter but Alex showed me what is possible on his rider.

We had a pretty good day I reckon and a good night on the pi55 and I'm still feeling it a bit today.
So cheers for bringing it "up" for me to have a go on and showing me its capabilities Al! Good one!

From having a go on it etc, I like the idea of the fuel tank under the seat so I would have to look at the Danes or more than likely the Scag TT. Still be a while though but eventually, I'm gonna get me one of them things!

Alex Callaghan
06-09-2004, 12:45 PM
Yeh mate..........I bet my face was a cracker!!!
I thought I was gunnu 180 and flip it backwards!!

Definatly left some grip marks in those controls on the way down!!

I'm still not 100% recovered from the other night.
Felling like tits on a bull today and getting guilty cause I'm not working. I wouldn't be much use to anyone today anyhow!!

Mowing my home lawns are about as much as I'm up for today.

Bar tires would really help on stuff like that and some of those wieghts that go on the front castor housings for catchers.
You would have steep hill mowing weapon with that setup IMO.

mick
06-09-2004, 12:54 PM
I'm feeling cr@p too mate! Just dont recover as well as I use too. We did have a few though, the rest of that XXXX is still there for uh when your back up this way! I couldnt even look at a beer, till Friday!

Bar tyres and some more weight would do the trick I reckon also.

I'm sold!

I don't reackon I've ever been good on recoverys from big nights on it.
Bought a thing of orange juice and dumped a couple of beroccas in it and followed that up with a couple of MB chasers and a movie.
Didn't help!!

I took the dogs down the park when I got back and ended up falling asleep in the Ute!!

Like I was saying to ya mate, The ZTRs are just really good alroundas and they pay for em selfs with enough work to give em.
You buy one and you've got a highly manuvarible, fast, finish mower that can tackle long grass and do sort of slashing jobs but neater than a slasher and somthing that can take on rough terrain.
An all in one machine!

--------------------------------

You softy! Gees, back in my day........................... :russ: ! hehe
I ended up on the lounge and watched a couple a movies, Pitch Black was one of them! Just festered! I ended up with a huge head ache my self. Hate that!

Yeah mate! I'm sold but just have to get some money together some how! I'll go and check out a Scag TT this week I reckon and get some numbers, so I have an idea what I'm looking at!

What did we write on Lawnsite and do you remember what threads?Glad I made you sign in under your name! haaaaa Chicken I am! :frightene

Mate, your a bad influence on an old guy!

Alex Callaghan
06-09-2004, 01:32 PM

Thats what Tony told me I wrote???

It was erased so I didn't get to check it out yesterday.
There must have been a bit a furoar about it.........heheheeeeee :russ:

I would have loved to have seen a few of the replys!!!!!

Do you remember what I wrote mate?? It was in that thread called 6ft Grass.

I was LMFAO about that Tontey call..........Sooooo funny and I don't even know why?!
(Sorry Tony.............I think I just accidently wrote Tontey when we were chating and it took off from there..........Gezzz it was funny at the time!!)

I'm still havin a bit of chuckle about it evrytime I think about it.

And the rest of it I couldn't remeber if me life depended on it!!

Good or Bad rating???

mick
06-09-2004, 01:53 PM
My name at the bottom of the scale has an * over it. I think its a check against me.

Also, you can rate people on there. They gave you 10 points to start and people give or take points. I think I have 0 now! hehe. Bloody trouble maker! :i dunno:

Check it out!

Alex Callaghan
06-09-2004, 02:24 PM
I had a look on Lawnsite and I can see where you give people the rating etc but I can't see the * next to your name :i dunno:
