hey all i just got new cogs and chains on my 30 inch mey cylinder mower 1997 model the mower shop that put the cogs on there rekons i have been greasin to much and first remomend greasing every week now says every month i had been greasing every second day of usage oilin the clutch every day and oilin the chains every few days what do you guys think?

Have you spoken to Bob Johnson at MEY GIVE HIM A CALL he designed and engineered them so he would know for sure .

Heres the service manual attached

MOWER MAINTENANCE
Daily Checks
Check oil level in engine.
Oil Clutch - both holes
Grease cylinder and drive shaft bearings
Check cylinder and bottom blade cut (adjust if necessary).

Every 40 - 50 HOURS.
Remove bottom blade holder and sharpen blade.
Check for trueness and replace when necessary.
Reverse cutting cylinder.
Check cutting height.
Check for parallel cut and adjust if necessary. (See setting up)
Check and adjust chain tension and re-oil chain (chain lube)
Clean air filter as per Motor Service Handbook.

80 - 100 HOURS
Change motor oil as per manufacturer’s manual.
Check bearings and grease nipples.
Lubricate throttle inner cable with CRC or similar.

150 - 200 HOURS
Check front and back roller bearings.
Check clutch lever adjustment (3-5mm space from end of clutch gate when engaged). Adjustment
bolts are provided at bottom of rod.
Clean fuel bowl or filter if fitted.
NOTE: - Split rear rollers should be serviced every 12~18 Months.

I can't see how you can grease something too much :s

The only downside I can see would be dirt sticking to grease...

Let me know what they say as I'm really interested to know!

havent heard back from them yet as i emailed them but ill try again later how often does everyone else do it on here?
btw just got crc chain lube for it awsome stuff webs out when you turn the cogs sticky stuff
