Good article Ian

Amazing how the headline as sensational as it is then slips back from a chainsaw to a brushcutter

Man almost cuts off leg with chainsaw18:30 AEST Thu Mar 18 An elderly Sunshine Coast man was airlifted to hospital for emergency surgery after a tree cutter's chainsaw nearly sliced his leg off.

The Caloundra man, aged in his 70s, nearly lost his leg in the accident, which occurred while he was watching a tree cutter at work on a property 60km northwest of Gympie on Thursday morning.

"The man was standing nearby, when a brushcutter used by another man, became stuck, kicked back and slashed through the injured man's leg," an AGL Action Rescue helicopter spokesman said

"Paramedics called the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter team to assist with the treatment."

The crew airlifted the injured man to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where a specialist medical team was waiting to perform emergency surgery.

Lol....but it would be worth it. I joke around a fair bit with my offsider. We were doing a massively overgrown block a couple of months ago and I found this stuffed toys snake about 3 foot long in the jungle as I was whipper snipping. I had said to him before we started to be careful of snakes. We had to pick up a heap of sheet iron and he did that while I started on the whipper snipping. He was extra careful picking up the sheets. Well he was working one level down from me so I threw the snake down and it sort of wrapped round his leg. I scared the bejus out of him and gave me no end of mirth. He swore to get me back and I was on the look out for something all day but it never came.

We go to the tip with a massive load and are both in the trailer getting it out when without any doing on my behalf the aforementioned stuffed snake drops on the deck in front of him. He lets out this strangled yell that scares me so much I jump out of the trailer thinking it was a real one. He does the same. We realise it is only the stuffed snake and both burst out laughing much to the amusement of the rest of the people at the tip.

I still remind him to this day of how he squealed like a girl because of a toy snake.
