Water Intoxication and Hyponatremia Symptoms

So what we are asking is to post anything that has happened to you on the job especially when working in the hot season .

And we think you should keep a very close eye on this medical condition and even talk to your doctor b4 the hot season is on us again .

The need to remain hydrated during periods of exertion, particularly in hot climates, makes it difficult to recognize hyponatremia symptoms. Severe dehydration and heat exhaustion look very similar to hyponatremia and, like hyponatremia, are more common in hot weather during exercise.

Heat exhaustion and dehydration can look very much like hyponatremia and are much more common. Heat stroke has a distinct set of symptoms and is a serious emergency.

Hyponatremia Symptoms
Hyponatremia symptoms include:
weakness
dizziness
nausea
muscle cramps
slurred speech
confusion
loss of consciousness
seizures in severe cases
There is very little that can be done outside of a hospital for hyponatremia, so differentiating between dehydration and hyponatremia is the most important part of hyponatremia first aid. The symptoms are similar enough that a good assessment must include interviewing the victim and witnesses.

Saw it last night and it was very interesting. I think we are susceptible on those hot days. It explains a bit about why I get cramps really bad sometimes even though I have drunk litres and litres of water. It is just diluting the little salt that is left in my body. I think thats where the sports drinks come into play. I think a lot of people underestimate the risk of working in extreme heat.

Yep watched it too. Real eye opener. I would hate to think how many people have lost their lives thinking they were doing the right thing drinking heaps of water. Not only in sports but in the workplace and doing recreational activities

I reckon it's wonderfull how modern academics manage to discover all this stuff that no-one ever suspected existed.
