Hi TLG, I used echo for many years and found them good but they have chinese made carbies - dont seem to last in my view.
I have since been using Tanaka and found them much better, easier to start, longer lasting and few problems. More expensive and probably same output. I have 2 now-1 for 12 months, 1 for 4 years, and previously an old second hand one I picked up was probably 5+yrs old and did me for another 5 years. Have used shindaiwa - good when they work but find they can be a bugger to start and an older Stihl but cant really comment on that one. Just a thought for you!:big grin

I have a sanli blower as a spare. Blows harder than echo but not as smooth. And much heavier. Ok as back up
