Replaced the top of the speed feed head as it had worn out.
If doing this make sure that u dont loose the little rubber/plastic? spacer between the spring & the head.
Without it the spring wont have enough tension to feed out the right amount of line, therefor spewing out copious amounts at the slightest touch.
Very frustrating:dean:.
Cheers Dean.

ditto...
PS on the subject of the bump feeds, how often do they need replacing? We seem to go through heaps of them...or maybe it's because we've been in business so long, it just seems like that...

Speed feeds are the best and they last a long time as long as you are kind to them.

Today on beach rd Brighton, I was cutting a hedge & I could see the gardener working next door appeared to be struggling with his shindaiwa brush cutter head.
I asked him, whats the prob? he replied, no prob, just respooling the head. I asked him if he realised it was a speed feed head. With a fairley blank look on his face, he replied, what do u mean?
Poor bugger didnt have a clue & was embarassed but very greatful when I showed him how it worked.
All this time he had been taking it apart to spool it.
Live & learn, I guess:i dunno:.
Cheers Dean.
