I have this grass in my backyard and driveway.

Anyone know what it is? The rest of the yard is mainly couch with a bit of kikuyu and some paspalum as well.

I've gotten rid of the rest of the weeds with a spray about a month ago but this one keeps on growing.

It looks like a species of Veldt grass to me. Very common form of it down here, but there are also Queensland species as well. They are South African, and are usually an annual type weed. They are popping up everywhere down here atm.

Looks like Paspalum to me. Check it out on this site. http://www.heyne.com.au/gardencentre/factsheets/factsheet.php/Lawn+Weeds.htm

We do have a local grass here that does look a bit like that Veldt grass Stump but it usually grows taller - about 300 - 400mm by the time it goes to seed. You can see the panic type seed in the pics in this link:

Redlands It does look a lot more like the pics in your link. Likely then that it's the seedlings from last season's Paspalum seeds. Time to start digging before it gets a foothold.

Yeah,..definately paspalum. I have seen some of that stuff in my brothers new turf. THe stem is very coarse. The only good thing about Veldt is that is usually easy to pull by hand, and comes out in big clumps.

Ive seen allot of this in Sir Waklter buffalo grass. Its coming up between the buffalo.
Ive been pulling it out roots and all.
I thought it was the original grass they had before the Sir Walter was laid down coming through.
