From a quick look I believe Duragal maybe a cheaper less durable coating than hot dip but saying that I recently brought a hot dip gal trailer ( I didn't ask but probably Chinese) and within days of getting it home I noticed some small pinprick rust spots showing gave it a wipe over and a coat with cold gal paint and haven't notice anything since
def hot-dipped if the budget allows, l live directly on the beach and have virtually zero rust signs at all - but it was a quality trailer from a Sydney builder https://www.salestrailers.com.au/pro...trailer-range/
l got it 2nd hand for a great price and modded it myself
edit - http://www.indmowing.com.au/forum/sh...hlight=trailer the heavily applied cold gal is still going great on the loading ramp
Recently upgraded my boat trailer and given both options. Trailer builder recommends and suggests hot dip all the way and that’s dunking it in saltwater so a garden trailer should s#*t it in by a mile..!
Hot dipped. Replaced the trailer 5mths ago due to a accident and have gone hot dipped due to being on the coast, thinking resale due to maybe getting out in 5 yrs. However can't have a side box hot dipped since they warp and that is duragal. That said is still good as it's not subject to grass ( highly corrosive) or wear. All sweet. Even though I have gone the galv direction my last trailer although looking a bit rusted still lasted me 18 yrs. Just looked tired.
