The newly discovered natural molecule could be as effective as Roundup but potentially safe and non-toxic to humans and animals

Rural supply joints having their EFY sales may sell 360/450 for $100-$109 20ltr. They do in my area within the last week of June.
Somewhat off ian's original post topic, but I logged in actually to provide more reading re this link that's within this online paper Sunday 02/06/19

I love the way these articles always like to cite something along the lines of
"Four years ago, the World Health Organisation’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) declared glyphosate "probably carcinogenic to humans" but don't mention that red meat is also listed in the same class nor that Processed meat is classified as carcinogenic to humans (Group 1). Tobacco smoking and asbestos are also both classified as carcinogenic to humans (Group 1). Note also that a lot of the chemicals used by hair dressers are listed as either probable or do cause cancer in humans
Here we go...... https://www.theage.com.au/national/v...01-p51tgb.html

I’ll be retired from this game before I need to buy a quick start Silvan battery powered steam wand sprayer. Will have to keep a 20 ltr drum of weed killer for my own personal use before they ban the product me thinks in time. With Council OH&S staff obligations in this PC social media driven society, that time could be closer than we think.
To think as a kid my dad used to come home from work from the Phosphate plant in Yarraville with his car covered in phosphate chemical dust and his clothing. We used to finger write, wash car dad on the duco. Used to take us to his office on saturdays and the environment and office was covered in chemical dust. Different times they were.
Folks, you may like to read today's Melb Age 4-06-19 for a very localised story on topic. Haven't posted online link as many may not be able to open it, although it opened for me and I don't subscribe.
Edit; here's the link,,, https://www.theage.com.au/national/f...03-p51u1a.html
The conga line === "me too" has started with Carbone lawyers (no win -no fee type) lodging first claim on behalf of client in Victorian Supreme Court ......
The big problem we will have with banning glyphosate is finding something capable of replacing it to do the job as efficiently that it does. It just means more work for the contractors and more costs for the client.
It is a chemical and should be treated as such - we all probably get a bit slack though. It could be good thing if it is proven to be unsafe to use.
Saying that above if it does get banned it will give companies the encouragement to find something safe with a hugeready made market WAITING!!!
.i dont know if glysphorate is as what they say , several university professor said today time and time again test has proven no affect on humans unless you drank the stuff ..who knows ...a lot of my clients including schools are asking me not to use its already so that's why i buy the 20 litre drums of slasher and they pay for the cost...Slasher a plant based product is 30 of bucks a litre and has an application mix of 70mm to a litre so 7 times round up ( basic ) is dearer ...I sell a lot of spraying product time using slasher as the customer with animals and kids are comfortable with this product..its not as good but follow up applications will get the job done...the customer dictates what they want and after todays news there will be a push back for a lot of people again using round up...Ive jump the gun a couple of years ago using slasher and my customers are happy withy including my schools ...I came from a farm using more potent chemicals like 2 4 5t and as a kid was drenched in the stuff..probably why i have 6 fingers lol ...reckon adapt to the change now and get in whilst others are saying she will be right mate..
Attachment 9465Attachment 9466These have already started turning up on my computer.
Cheers Fred.
Those ads are from a law firm.
No matter whether a client wins or loses in court... the lawyers ALWAYS win....
The way I see it...going after Monsanto for damages from Roundup is like going after car manufacturers after an accident instead of irresponsible drivers.
Hows the new business going David
l'm yet to see any credible, science backed evidence against glypho....
I'm still waiting to find them on sale
I did some spraying this morning at a school. Due to the concerns re Glyphosate, we've decided to spray around the buildings & play areas with Slasher and places further away, we spray with glypho. Spray during the holidays to reduce kiddies exposure as much as possible.
I used 60 litres of Slasher mix at a chemical cost of $71.40. Used 90 litres of Glyphosate mix at a chemical cost of $2.97.
Then I went & sprayed the lawn areas around the buildings with KambaM for broadleaf.
Can't help but wonder how much testing has been done on Kamba or Slasher to determine their safety. Probably heaps, but I'd bet that Glypho has had much more extensive testing.
As an aside, I went back & sprayed the broadleaf just over an hour after spraying the edges with Slasher and the clover/thistles on the edges were already wilting.
l'd rather gargle with glypho than Kamba......
From a health and safety point of view I think I would prefer to drink Glypho than Slasher note it also tastes better
Keep an eye out when you go into Bunnings, Vermont yesterday had marked 2 varieties of Glypho 1Lt down to something in the $6.50 range ( on a pallet in the middle cross aisle ) they will probably mark it down again if it doesn't sell fast enough.Note the cheapest I saw in Scoresby is around $9.50
also a tip if anyone wants to buy Slasher but a smaller amount I took a photo of the bottle and the price (about $85.00) at Plantmark then asked Bunnings for a price match which they did so I paid $73 something for the 5 Lt bottle
Will slasher work on bamboo?
I've got a few small spots where bamboo needs to be cut to ground and poisoned... round up in the news is causing issues
No slasher won't get into the roots it basically only kills the foliage
Okay thanks .
What a media beat up. Now this last week and a bit a Sydney local council had workers strike over glyphosate, wanting to use an organic alternative (most likely Slasher). Do these people realise that Slasher is also a chemical?? Doesn't matter that it's extracted from an organic source, still a chemical, still dangerous if used improperly!! Still carries the same "Caution" signal heading as Glyphosate. Still has detailed usage instructions on the label.
Then there's the astronomical cost of Slasher - not only the cost per spray, but also repeated applications to keep weeds under control.
Craziness... anything to get out of work!
They could always get the strikers to weed by hand

The only answer to wether glypho is safe or not is through science and there aint much of that going on these days however I suspect when it got approval in Australia there was more respect for the science and I am trusting it is safe if used as per instructions. The only concern I have is if the manufacturers fudged it thru somehow but you would expect countries around the world would have done their own independent testing. Having said that I am a lot more careful now and won't spray when in doubt because fake news is everywhere now.
This has far bigger implications than just the home garden. Crops are modified to be resistance to glypho. Some bloke on Landline reckons it was the biggest advance in cropping in his lifetime.
Dunno who to believe, history shows the world has sprayed toxic crap around before (e.g.DDT) and everyone thought it was safe too. Cigarette or alcohol anyone. In the end its all just a calculated risk just like crossing the road.
Bunnings Vermont on a pallet in the aisle that runs through the middle of the store is some Glyphosate 360 $4.38 a litre can't remember the brand
I beg to differ. Glyphosate is absorbed mostly thru the leaves and gums up the enzymes in the plant, not just the leaves. The leaves are where death is most evident. If the plant does not completely die, then the roots may shoot new leaves, but it is not correct to say glyphosate only kills the leaves
On another note, can anybody suggest or recommend a chemical spraying course.? Been doing some research and there a plenty that offer it online around the $275 mark.
With all the Glyphosate hype, I’m already getting asked by a few of my commercial clients to be accredited. I reckon It’s only a matter of time before it becomes compulsory for all contractors.
Thoughts..?
