  2. Re: Imidacloprid Stem Injection to treat mealy bugs on Hibiscus?

I just did a search and found Rogor illegal to use on edible crops but still available, though many outlets refuse to stock it. Its hard to stay on top of what gets banned.

    Re: Toro 22"recycler

I had one of these years ago. Piece of ****. Left a heap of clippings at the end of each run and no good in the wet.
  4. Re: Imidacloprid Stem Injection to treat mealy bugs on Hibiscus?

I have a client that had injected Rogor into a eucalyptus tree to get rid of borers which apparently worked.

  6. Re: Increasing customer base and selling "splits" - does anyone do this?

When I was advertising I was spending around $60 week. $200pw is a big hit. I don't advertise at all anymore.

When I was a franchisee (I think franchises are great for first time business owners)...
  7. Re: Increasing customer base and selling "splits" - does anyone do this?

Spoke with a new VIP franchisee last week and the fees are now $700 month.
  8. Re: Increasing customer base and selling "splits" - does anyone do this?

I know a independent lawnie that used to sell off parts of his round. He got together with another fella and put together a parcel of clients and sell them. Basically created a new round. Yes he made...

    Re: new slasher in australia

Its a bit like. I have a scarifier and I use it a few times a year. Is it worth the upkeep for the few jobs. Probably not. I keep thinking I should sell it.
Feral jobs are a bit more common than...

Re: What Honda SP for mulching

I'm no help here as I was using a engine and disc off a HRU216 with just the centre bolt and the three bent out locating lugs which I ground off.

Re: What Honda SP for mulching

Sorry Beetle but have to disagree re the 4 blade.

Firstly to gain that 15-18mm (I had a similar issue with the Honda motor on a MTD chassis) I had a collet/ spacer machined up out of steel and...

    Re: Work boots ??

I've been also wearing bamboo socks for quite a while now, $12 pair at Total Workwear. Very comfortable and tough. Draw the moisture away from your feet and yes a PITA the way they take ages to dry...

    Re: Work boots ??

Before I went to Magnums I ran Rossi slip on's for around 15yrs. They only ever last to 12 mths as the grip would wear completely off & the top leather crack due to wet etc. Beaut thing was you could...

Re: What Honda SP for mulching

I once grafted a Honda engine onto a MTD mulching chassis so also had to use the Honda cutting disc.
Standard blades didn't fit the space, so I bored new holes in the disc and filed them out to fit...

    Re: What do you do

I've had it happen, same scenario. I suggest it needs cutting earlier I'm happy to cut it fortnightly. Answer was no stick to three weeks. I then find out the edges are not done and tell them that...

Re: Things that make me grumpy

    His cut is 31%.
Don't know why any contractor would want to go work for $45 hr and be a slave to his time schedule.
After expenses, tax etc you have around $22.50 in your pocket so you'd be better...
  18. Re: What your Profit Per Hour over 12 months ?

    Too many variables.
Only way to work out your'e actual hourly rate for the day or week is to divide income by hours minus expense percentage. It'll give you an idea.
    This doesn't allow for GST....
  19. Re: Looking to move into acreage work - what is the market like? How to charge?

I've heard this said by some one else but would love to say it to a Beer Bob, " If i wanted to go broke, I'd rather sit at home than work for F all.
  20. Re: Looking to move into acreage work - what is the market like? How to charge?

[QUOTE=conrad;154780]Yeah if I can't get the rate I want, it's just not worth it. Not going to lower my rate for more equipment wear and tear.

For those that quote a job based on 2 weekly...
  21. Re: Looking to move into acreage work - what is the market like? How to charge?

As a bare minimum work out your running , replacement costs as an hourly rate and add your time. Zero turns are expensive machines that work at least twice as fast as walk behinds and your'e charging...
  22. Re: Looking to move into acreage work - what is the market like? How to charge?

I have a Hustler 42" that is supposed to cut 2 acres/hr, but I work on 1 acre/hr especially with lawn as it needs to be tidy.
Sometimes I wish I had a bigger deck but there's a lot times I just...

    Re: Hourly rate increase

Saw a 17yr old on a Buy Sell Swap site offering $15hr gardening and was inundated with comments for work. Where's his insurance, whs, superannuation, holidaypay, sickpay? The list goes on.

Re: Best 19" self propelled mower

I've got a Masport selfpropelled designated mulch mower, with Briggs 750 on it. Initially I didn't think it'd last but going on 4yrs now. I put a victor snorkel on all my mowers and I think that...

    Re: Hedge names

I'd call it bevelled edge too. As to square edge and rounded edge. Best to keep it simple and save confusion with the client.
