Re: Battery Gear- x Years on

Speaking of Makita, I bought one of the Chinese battery secateurs that take a Makita battery. I find it really good & if it doesn't last very long, @ $80 it wouldn't upset me too much.

    Battery Gear- x Years on

Well it's 5 years since I first got into battery gear, so time for a bit of a review.
My first tool was the Husq extended hedge trimmer. I had a lot of trouble with the first one and went to Stihl...

Re: Alternative to Honda replacement bags

I'll check this morning, but I think I might still have a brand new one in the shed, and maybe a used one. They were for a HRX that's retired but I'm sure they are the same as HRU bag.
    I'm just at...

    Re: Post Equipment Pics here

Hi Paul, I just took it for a bit of a hobby to fix it up. My old mate has just lost his wife to cancer and himself recovering from heart surgery. I'll eventually load it up when it's looking good...

    Re: Post Equipment Pics here

A friend gave me this a couple of months ago. It's a 1991 Husky Rider. Apparently one of the first Riders to come to Australia.
It was used commercially and then later just used on his property...

    Re: Which stihl hedge trimmer

My Husky extended hedger is 536LiHE3. It's had several new motors, switches and other things. Up till last time it stopped, repairs have all been covered by warranty. But it's 5 years old, so I...

    Re: Which stihl hedge trimmer

I haven't seen the new models, but I have the 65 & 85. The 85 motor seems to run much smoother & faster than the 65. Problem is, it's too heavy to use except when absolutely necessary.
    My Husqvarna...

    Re: Fuel prices - ouch!

We must be a bit cheaper here Redeye. That would cost $121 here today.

I think the prices are up to where they were before they dropped the excise.

Re: Things that make HAPPY ''''''

Good one Geoff. I don't think I'll be doing 4 days a week if I get to 67. Slowing down already @ 62.

Shame this forum has gone quiet. I've been at this game for 12 years and not much I do seems to...

Re: Things that make HAPPY ''''''

The old one is actually better to use than the new one. Not as high to lift the blocks, and the wood debris can fall away easier from the bed/ram. The new one tends to clog up with splinters etc.

Re: Things that make HAPPY ''''''

In early April, went out to the paddock to get a load of firewood, and found my splitter missing.

I didn't have any hope of ever seeing it again, so had to buy a new one.

    On Friday, the...

    Happy New Year to all.
2021 was a pretty good year for me personally. Scored a few new good contracts and Covid19 had very little effect on us here locally until a couple of weeks ago, when we had...

    Sticky: Re: hows the weather

Having a great season here so far.
Had good rain through winter which kicked the grass along nicely when the warmer weather came. Then in Oct & Nov we've had excellent rain & the grass is going mad....

    Re: Stihl battery power

Hi Geoff, Yes my Husky battery gear is into it's 4th season. The line trimmer has been faultless, but with the mad grass growth atm, it's struggling a bit.
I heard that the multi head had a bit...

I anyone is still out there?

Went to the Stihl Shop yesterday & they had a brand new model of battery Kombi head. It's not on the AU website yet.

Hi bb1. Yes it's been very quiet here for quite some time now.
Seems like facebook is more popular these days. Found one mowing page there, but it doesn't do much for me.

    Re: Whipper Snipper Line

Yeah Ian I noticed the different part numbers, but thought it might have been because the trailblazer is a 2lb spool & the new one is a 3lb spool.

Anyway I used some yesterday and seems to be ok...

I ordered a new spool & it arrived today, but it's not Trailblazer. It seems stiffer & harder, but the dealer assures me it is the correct code/part...

    Re: Best mower 2020??

Yes it's heavy to lift, but still easy to manoeuvre.
I could just lift the HRx & mulchmaster into the back of the ute, but not this one.

Started making a ramp a little while ago as I don't have...

    Re: Best mower 2020??

I bought a Masport 21" SP Contractor last week with B&S 850. I like it so far. It does everything well. 3 speed gearbox- 2nd gear is a brisk walk.

The only thing I see that might be a problem is...

I christened the Walker this morning on a rough commercial job. There wasn't a lot of grass to cut... just mostly weeds. It cuts & chops them up nice and fine, even side throwing.

    Still haven't...

I only picked it up yesterday.

Nothing to cut here ATM. I did 5 minutes today trying to mulch up some leaves at home but that's all. Didn't seem to have as much vacuum as I expected but I think...
