    Re: Rover or Hobda

That's how I bought mine from masters. I use bulk blades from ebay- work great.

Re: Hints for Keeping clients on two-weekly mows??

I just did a search and it seems this is a passionate, well worn topic on here. Geoff, I've got nothing but admiration for anyone with their own business and have never said otherwise. I am giving my...

Re: Hints for Keeping clients on two-weekly mows??

Hit a nerve perhaps lol?. Three new posts before i could type a reply to steve. I don't recall anyone saying that Fred. I didn't spend four years a uni becoming a teacher and three years to complete...

Re: Hints for Keeping clients on two-weekly mows??

Indeed, the OP was talking about mowing, as was i. Steve, the sentence you quoted is me reflecting on me mate. Most of my work is lawns. There's a fair bit of experience and professional development...

Re: Hints for Keeping clients on two-weekly mows??

    Words to live by.
I always keep in the back of my mind that this isn't a trade as such so you can't ask too much of people (argue that all you want but in my mind it takes more to learn how to be a...

Re: Hints for Keeping clients on two-weekly mows??

I've had to decide lately about whether to keep customers that initially want fortnightly but go to three weekly upon request or txt not to come around this week. My ego head says, price is more for...
  7. Re: What's it cost to remove 6-9 cubic meters of gum tree tops?

Worked it at $300- all good, took about 3.5 hrs
  8. Re: What's it cost to remove 6-9 cubic meters of gum tree tops?

I've got a small 13 hp chipper I use for jobs like this all the time. While it chips really well, it's still slow as you still have to cut some branches and cut up anything over 3 or 4 inches for...
  9. What's it cost to remove 6-9 cubic meters of gum tree tops?

Got a regular client who has informed me that the lawns have been mowed this week already by them so I can concentrate on getting rid of the eucalypt heads the arborist left behind. I think it's...
  10. Re: Which new Rover mower would you recommend from this lot

I have (b). Happy as Larry with it and no probs with the rover engine- perfect actually. The extra two inches is awesome for big lawns, but I have an eighteen inch as well ( never used these days...

Re: Troy bilt tb260 self propeled mower

I purchased a rover pro cut 560 from masters two months ago. Very impressed! On the other side of the coin I used a $150 MD chainsaw the other day- 75cc, 24 inch bar. Got to say I bought one the next...

  13. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

Ok so time for a little review!
The hour meter only counts time when blades are engaged, so I've got 4 hrs cutting time on it. Due for a service at 8 hrs, free pick up, service and delivery.

    Cut...

Re: Things that make me grumpy

Learnt a great lesson today: when you give someone a quote for a small lawn and if through five emails and forty minutes of phone calls they waste your time and screw you around- it is very...
  15. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

All sound advice ! I reckon the ztr has saved me three hours in the last few days.
  16. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

It certainly is, I'd even say fun- at least for now. Definitely an acquired skill ! Glad I got the husky, for a domestic machine it is certainly very rugged.
  17. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

Mowed my lawn tonight, very impressed!
  18. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

Just picked up the 42 inch, 22 hp fab deck husky. Pretty much flipped a coin in the end, but the husky has wider tyres, tougher transmissions apparently and grease nipples- literally that's all it...
  19. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

That's a vote for fab decks then- fab deck it is! Husky with v twin Briggs or toro with v twin kawa-both fab decks, same price, hell knows!
  20. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

To be honest I'm still undecided. I think the price diff ($5299 for toro or 5999 for husky fab deck) is worth it but whether I need a fab deck is the question. I have used a pressed deck for a year...
  21. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

I'm purchasing tomorrow and can still choose either mower , but I realized that my husky lawn tractor has a pressed deck which has never given me issues
  22. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

Last minute change of mind, looks like I'm going to purchase a toro timecutter 4200t with v twin Kawasaki engine. After a good look at Briggs and Stratton mowers and fabricated decks, I decided I...
  23. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

I didn't mean to sound like an ungrateful schmuck but here on the Mornington peninsula the mower shops just aren't interested in selling a mower at all.
  24. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

Thanks Geoff, I've investigated this option and one husky rate is 36% lend lease and the other is 5% off site finance. Any shop that can't do zero finance these days isn't trying to sell their...
  25. Re: I've got six grand in my hand and want a zero turn!

After looking at the hustler sport 42 and husky rz4222tf I've decided to go with the husky as the dealers are closer, better deal and I like the quality. I'd like to thank everyone for their opinions!
