I've got the parts list and exploded views for the whole mower except the engine that I could email too.

DavidS and edbeek ,,sent details to both..thanks guys
Picked up a used 560 to try out but needs a bit of work in making it a better machine.
Will be deciding with time when buying a brand new one this year if it will be a 560 or 50
I'll be selling off both my Honda's SP 21" machines very soon
Cheers
As an alternative to buying a new Rover 560 I had a look at repowering with a Kawasaki FJ180v engine
When engine installed the oil filter was just touching the drove chain cover. Took a small piece out of the chain cover so the engine did not vibrate on it.
To change the oil filter remove the filter housing change filter & reinstall housing.

Good one Buggga. Seems like a great combination.
Can you let us know how they go for power compared to the old engines (guessing B&S 850?) I looked up the EU Kawasaki site and they have that engine @ 4.5hp and 7.5 ft lbs torque, but ProScape AU has it @ 6hp & 8.7 ft lbs.
Also the ProScape site shows that model without the oil filter which would make things easier.
How much were those engines?
Thanks edbeek
I spoke to another forum member Phil 100, he had done the conversion some time ago.
One of the Rovers had Briggs 850 & the other had Honda GSV 190. Both were a bit tired & hard to start.
I don't run full throttle with these & if the blades are kept sharp it does a good job.
Other than that just the usual Rover maintenance
Just a gut feeling only the Kawasaki seems to have a fair bit of torque.
Good points : As said before a fair bit of torque.
Don't have to use full throttle.
With the filter oil stays cleaner & hopefully gives better engine life.
Internal oil pump. Not sure if this helps lubrication while mowing on slopes.
Negatives : Has made the Rover heavier
Not good for moist ground as it can leave wheel tracks
I spotted the engines you were talking about at Waverley Mowers for $449.
It might pay to look overseas & see how much from America
well done !! I love my kawa, and yes the oil filter is a big plus

What issues or what parts wear out on a regular basis on these mowers ?.
Drive Pawls, wheel clips, drive pawl retaining circlips and washers are what I always keep in stock. I replace the drive gears every Winter but that is my preference as we has a lot more dirt and dust out here. Otherwise just clean and service on regular basis and mower will look after you
The dealer who stocks these but strongly does not recommend them for contractors said to me something about a pulley or something underneath that wears out. He said it's a $3 part but $120 - $150 to replace. Can anyone expand on that?
Your dealer is a WANKA, the pulley he is talking about, you turn mower over take belt cover off after releasing tension on belt, drive locking pin out and remove pulley, put new pulley on and put drive locking pin back in, put belt and cover back on, adjust tension on belt and that it. He must charge $150 per labour, I have replaced one of these in 6 years of use. I have not had any major problems bar a couple week ago I sheared the drive gear shear pin in the chain drive, took to mower shop and it cost me $45.00 to get fixed as I did not have time to repair myself.
I had the Kawasaki engine on a Proscape ages ago.
I had too many issues with starting it.
Apart entry the motor gets flooded easy when its sitting in the back of the
Ute whilst driving from
Job to job.

You must have had a dud as any Kawasaki engine I have ever used or been associated with has been brilliant. I would re engine my mower with a Kawasaki next time too.
me too, wish they were as cheap as briggs

It was a 6 HP Kawazaki motor. I read heaps on the net about it too. ( Dont tip it over etc etc) Must be the motor made at that particular time then

I had a couple of toro commercial mowers years ago with Kawasaki motors , never had a problem, they were very smooth running motors. Had a toro ztr with kawa v twin it was a great motor too
