    Bgs

This is a Qld Blue lawn from today,it's a regular job so will probably never get out of control.

This is Sir Walter at my old mans place, about a weeks growth(about 3.5 inches of new growth, this **** is growing like mad at the moment) and it dodles through this at 1/2 throttle.

Mine is only a couple of months old but starts first pull. A little heavier on the pull than Honda but worth it for the extra pony's

    What's the difference between the 850 & 875 series?

the briggs 850 now fires up on the recoil also, i was worried about starting mine after having the quantum 6 hp motor but this motor is a pearler... time will tell though. One thing about hondas is they always start even 8 years down the track

My Rover cold will start first pull normally, hot tho it can take 3 pulls but I put up with that as the Rover cuts wet grass better is faster across the ground than the Honda (I had a mate who owns a honda mow with me and I cut 10 strips to his 7.5 strips plus I had a slightly wider cut) and has more grunt for thick wet grass. I will be buying another one in June as mine is now 4 years old and I want to keep it as a back up mower.

I don't think the 875 is an i/c engine, so aluminium cylinder. It has a bit more torque though - 11.9 v 11.5.

There is also a 'non i/c' 850 engine too with an aluminium cylinder.

the only difference i can see on the Briggs site is the 875 produces 875ft/lb torque and the 850 produces 850 ft/lbs

Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

This is from the B&S website re 'ReadyStart' engines

1 Within the ReadyStart package comes the starting guarantee (S2), which is standard on all ReadyStart engines. It guarantees that the owner’s lawnmower will always start on the first or second pull of the rope starter or Briggs & Stratton will fix it for free.
