    The SP lever pulls the clutch discs together allowing the gearbox drive the wheels (via the chain).

    The belt is the link between the engine and the gearbox.

    oops.
    i'd better check that

    Yes I believe this is correct.

    The gearbox is being driven by the belt whenever the engine is turning.

    The clutch is between the output shaft of the gearbox and the chain drive to the wheels.
    When you squeeze the SP handle, it compresses the clutch to engage the drive.

    thanks for the info guys,

    so if its a clutch, then when you only put the lever in part way (to drive slower) arent you riding the clutch, and will then wear it out quicker?

    sorry, just trying to understand;

    sorry for the stupid questions;

    thanks

    Oops, yes I should know that as I had mine apart on the weekend. it's my other heap of s##t mower that is driven via belt tension. Sorry for bum steer.
    Yes it will make it wear out a bit quicker but after a while you will get used to the extra pace and will be holding it all the way, or use a bit less throttle except for long grass.

    Yeah happy, that's how it seems to me too.
    I tend to use it either full-on or full off.
    But maybe because mine is new, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground... either it grips, or it doesn't.

    Just another tip for the Rover Pro Cut owners.
    If your mower does not want to drive in a straight line, feels a bit like it swerves all over the place, then it is time to replace your drive pawls, you can look for the most worn one and only replace it if you want but I would recommend replacing both pawls.

    just used my honda again after using the 560 all the time

    the 560 cuts grass better, packs the catcher full, doesnt block the chute

    dont know about long term, its only a month old or so,

    but its a blurry ripper

    only "problem" is that it doesnt have 3 gears like the honda.

    it surges a little when going from no to thick grass; it doesnt idle at LOW REVS like the hondas, - not that i care, just an observation

    sometimes it goes a little FAST for thick/cleanup jobs - for that i would like the gears.

    but still, 95% of lawns, it goes FAST, lol

    good machine.

    cheers

    At full tilt is is faster than the Honda? I often find with the Honda in 3rd gear I'm trying to push it to go quicker. Maybe I need to see if the revs can be increased a little.

    That's Ok price Starmow. I think RRP was about $1160. Lucky to find one these days with the 850 engine.

    I did a longish Santa Anna lawn this morning in the rain, and had no clogging issues at all and the cut was as nice as a normal mow. 2 catchers in a chaff bag & I dragged the bags to the ute instead of carrying them.

    I wish they had a snorkel on the air intake. The air filter clogs up quickly especially when mulching dry lawns.
