hahaha, lol... I wish, I meant 1st millionth PITA. I have had over 60 calls this week qualifying each and every call and I assure you, the most frustrating season thus far. Cheap bastards wanting cheap work and the cowboy is under cutting the cow boy.

you sure know how to get peoples attention Nick!

Should be a nice little lesson for anyone new to the game looking to get noticed with their advertising.

Nick how did you qualify them? I've been getting a few (the cowboy situation is getting worse here too) and I've been asking three or four main things: 1. How big is the yard? 2. How long is the grass/When was it last cut? 3. How much do you expect it to cost?

Seems to sort them out pretty quickly then I know if it's actually worth doing a visual inspection so as not to waste my time.

Hey PaulG, very similar to you but I wont ask question 4. I tell them my minimum starting price for a REGULAR 2 weekly in growth season and garden clean ups start from x amount if its a half day, full day, plus rubbish etc etc. Most if not all calls have been unsuccesful but the ones I have received have paid off rather, lets say all family members will receice a xmas card this year, LOL...

A lot of them have been in areas to far from me, others give you a days notice for a rental clean up which has to be done by 5.30pm the next day, bloody PITA wanting a FREE quote, thats when I definatley dont bother, the moment they say FREE quote, or the classic "but the other gardener".

Anyway all is going great actually, just venting and letting off some steam..

    Cheers Nick

Yes, a mate of mine (who just sold his mowing business for $90 000 !! ......b@$t@rd) told me that he gives potential PITA's a minimum and a maximum amount then tells them to get back to him. Great Idea if you ask me. I have a 90 cc scooter that I use to go and do quotes on if it's not too far away from my house, and if I can be bothered, so it's not a big expense (fuel wise) if it's a total waste of time.

I've been qualifying my calls lately as well. Just had a couple today, wouldn't suprise me if its the same bloke.

Them- Do you mow lawns in xxxx suburb
    Me- Sure do
Them- My regular guy can't do it any more and He was charging me $30 (I roll my eyes)
    Me- My minimum is $40
Them- What size yard is that
Me- Nature strip on up,most places in your suburb are between $45 -$55 but I need to see it.
Them- I'm not paying that for 40 mins work
Me- If it takes you 40mins it will probably only take me 20mins then but thats still the starting point.Have a nice day.

They used to get up my nose but now I enjoy playing with them.
