i like my honda 425. might upgrade to the 435 next time as the feral jobs do slow it down a bit but i wouldnt go near the honda 4 stroke blower. powerless pieces of dog poop.

I gave my 33cc pope an absolute flogging in some overgrown crap today and it blitzed it.

You realise the 425 and the blower has the same engine in it. I used the honda blower the husqvarna used to make twice the airflow but the honda is better than the broom,

i didnt know they were the same engine. but i had to use the honda blower in a previous job and found it tricky to start and powerless. and its made for lefties. hold it in your right and it sucks itself to your leg

Not sure how you found it tricky to start my young fella used to love that he could start it and it would be funny as watching him trying to use it.

I recently tried an experiment on a mighty feral that had thistles as tall as me. I have a stihl fs85 and bushranger l26 which is moderately powerful and extremely light. So I just put the standard 3 tooth grass blade on the bushy and gave it a go. As I suspected it ate through the stuff. Struggled a bit on some of the thistles that were as thick as my arm at the base. But that would be choice of blade rather than available power. WIth a saw blade I reckon it will eat them too. Anyway my point for the thicker stuff is that its not so much about power but how you use it. The bushranger is the least powerful of my machines and it smashed that feral in no time...and without me hardly raising a sweat.

Blowers can kick up a bit of dust. Difficult starting may indicate the air filter is in need of a good clean.
I've had a Honda blower for six years. Starts second or third pull, and has never missed a beat.

Its true if you use a blade you dont need a huge amount of power, my fs85 handles most things with a blade, fs85 has .95kw, honda umk425 has .8kw(1.1hp), umk435 has 1.2kw(1.6hp), if you have to use trimmer line to get close to the ground its a different story in really long grass, I have bogged down my stihl km130r 1.4kw (1.9hp) a few times now, bought one of these to speed things up lol http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rc...RYEMIw&cad=rja

interestingly according to the websites the stihl and bushranger have the same specs http://www.stihl.com.au/products/pro...m?iModelID=366and http://www.poweruplawncare.com.au/bu.../trimmers.htmli for 1 wouldn't have a problem with buying the bushranger it's a rebadged maruyama

I have the Kawa 43cc on a Shingu brushcutter and I just love the power of it. But the best thing about it is the ease of starting. Just a bit of a pull through one compression stroke and it's purring, every time.

And thats what I dont understand with some of you guys. If your going to use a harness, you may as well get the most powerful brushcutter you can get. 48cc is way more powerful than a 30odd cc. I just dont get it!

And Wombat, I have the same one. Ive had it for probably 10yrs and it still goes great although only gets used a few times a year now. I use the Tanaka back pack 40cc trimmer a few times a week.
Look into a Oleomac harness! So much better than the one that comes with the Kawi. It spreads the weight over the shoulders and hips, really well padded, has a plastic part that goes up your back and helps with posture, almost like a back brace. Trust me, its worth the investment! http://www.oleomac.cl/Livello.jsp?id...ttoFamiglia=95

    The bottom line is,
    4 stroke=No mixing fule
Honda 4 strokes are powerful.= You don't need to rev them so high to make it sound like a scream'n cat on a tin roof.
They are longer in length= Perfect if you're a tall bloke.
Honda's statement (First pull start every time.)
The new Honda 4 stroke snippers are better than the original ones.

I have a 27cc Tanaka, split shaft it comes with a lifetime warranty on the shaft. it is Very powerful and FEELS good when u use it. now that the Spark arrestor is gone it has come to life its very reliable and i love it!! The 4 strokes In my opinion are very heavy and if your doing alot of whipper snipping it sure will give you the sh!ts
