    Talking Trimmer line

Hey guys, Ive got a Tanaka bent shaft trimmer. Ive been looking on ebay for trimmer line in bulk. Is that you-beaut kevlar stuff any good? Its 2.5 mm thick. Ive got a strata cleaning business and i do a couple of lawns. Just want to get some line thats not overly expensive. Thanks in advance!

I'm presently using the 2.7mm round Magnum Gatorline by Oregon which has the Kevlar (Aramid Fibre) centre.

It wears very quickly when edging against concrete etc and the line snaps quite often when using the trimmer to do vertical/perpendicular edges.

I've tried putting pre-cut lengths of line in water overnight as recommended to try and soften it to stop snapping but this makes it wear faster IMO.

Around here the Stihl X-line (fluoro yellow) has been getting some good feedback and that's probably what I'll try next but will get a small length to try first.

Ok thanks for that.. so in average how much work do you get with one length?

I find it varies greatly on what I'm cutting. When I reload my trimmer head I pull about two-armspans worth, or about 3.5 metres from the roll. Brushcutting an overgrown lawn area I can get quite a lot of use out of one length of line -maybe two hours worth of cutting through tall Kikuyu. If I'm cutting back tough edges that have grown out over concrete, pebble-crete, bitumen etc I could go through the same amount of line in 30 - 45 minutes.

I use 3.3 as well but considering its a bent shaft, 2.7 would be the way to go IMO.

I wouldn't admit to anybody that I had a bent shaft trimmer
