Bruce Akhurst, the long time CEO of Sensis, has resigned today.
Amid bleak results and a shrinking business model, the CEO of Sensis (owner of the Yellow Pages) has resigned.

During his reign as CEO Bruce Akhurst oversaw the decline of Yellow Pages print revenues as small businesses abandoned the printed Yellow Pages books in favour of online advertising

Interesting about the book vs online thing as a lot of people I've talked to recently still see the worth in advertising in the Yellow Pages, as expensive as it is. Most starting up a new business have advertised for one year then don't need it again after that.

Maybe it's different here as Toowoomba has a huge retirement population, most of whom would still use the phone book rather than a computer.

Jumping from a sinking ship or just retiring? If you have ever seen there prices or dealt with there lack of customer service (complaints dept aside) you'll understand it wasnt just the fact people are searching on-line that they have lost market share the way they treat loyal customers also had a lot to do with it. If they dont change the way they go about things they will be gone altogether in 5 years.
