I was looking at doing exactly the same thing a year or two ago Beetle. Just need to make sure it is within the limits it protrudes past the Center of rear axle.
Did you get it made up or modify one of those "Mobility Scooter" carriers?

Stock standard Mobility Scooter carrier with extended 8" draw-bar,only added loops for the straps. It allows me to have enough clearance between carrier and chassis to rotate the mower,it's the only way it can face keeping the mower within the vehicle width and not protrude.

    Absolutely love it Beetle.
Looked into it here in Vic & it seems a no go.
Allowable overhang of the back axle is 60% of the wheel base to be legal.
Please tell me Im wrong, I really need something like this.

    Cheers Fred.

Fred and South east talking about rear axle overhang i had no idea what your talking about,so i searched Freds words
"Allowable overhang of the back axle is 60% of the wheel base to be legal."
    This is what came up..
    https://www.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/...es-or-less.pdf
Does this help in answering your Question ?

I see that 60%.... The maximum rear overhang allowed is 60% of the
wheelbase up to a maximum of 3.7 metres,

As i say would have had atleast 50 cops give it a going over from following me and changing lanes when i do to pulling up along side while moving and he's checking out seeing how it's attached to the vehicle and never got pulled over for it..It will depend if the rules are the same between states and to give you some idea of the length of this vehicle.
The rear axle is nearly in the middle between the front axle and the rear number plate on carrier.

Hi Beetle, yer the wheel base on my BT50 is 3220 so x 60% = 1932 from the centre of the back axle.
How long is the carrier ?

    Cheers Fred.

You can have it where ever you want just depends on how far you want to slide it in to the hitch and do you want to fold it up.
Just added a video to previous reply which will give you a better idea,i'll measure mine in the morning and add some more pics
After 2 number plates 4 lights draw bar extension and 2 anti rattle clamps all up $600,anyone thinking about this should only to be fitted to a raised vehicle like a 4WD otherwise you going to be scrapping on the ground when you least expect it

Finally got my Isuzu back from hail damage repairs on Friday.
Was a frustrating 3 weeks using the Hilux with no toolboxes. Every day checking & rechecking that I've loaded all the gear needed for the day.
