I add about a teaspoon of metasulphuron to my round up which I pre mix in 20 litre drums. It's a granular herbicide and it gives it an extra kick. If I do it right, it will kill everything down to bare dirt. With some of the jobs that I have done for years I find that I don't poison as much as I used to.

I have heard that if you put a splash of vinegar in the water it lowers the PH and makes it more effective, I tried it for a while but it didn't seem to make much difference.

find using a wetter soil liquid or simply dish washing detergent aids the product to stick to the leaf of the plant better.....

If I am not mistaken, metasulphuron == Brushoff (tm).
The recommended rate for Brushoff for most apps is 5grams per 50 litres of water (+pulse adjuvant).
I use an electronic digital micro scales to weight it out and 5gm is about one 'Lanes spoon measure' which is about half a teaspoon.
( I highly recommend having digital micro scales for *accurately* measuring small quantities of dry chemicals -- they can be bought on evilBay for under $10 delivered. They are good for weighing up to 30-50 gms with milligram resolution )

On that basis ... One teaspoon Metasulphuron in 20L is pretty 'heavy handed' overdosing IMHO, so no wonder it 'kills everything'.
Exception is metasulphuron will not kill grasses, but the roundup is taking care of that.
Ferns beware .... Metasulphuron is FATAL to them.

Yep. Metsulphuron, about as much fun to measure out as Sempra if you don't have a small digital scale.

Just started out using Sempra again to kill a major nutgrass issue I have at a regular clients. See how it goes as the last time I used it was about 13yrs ago. As above, Gramoxone is great used to use it on the cane farms up north all the time. Not sure about using it for Commercial Gardening though.

Still persisting with Sempra here but I've finding I have to needs repeat doses every few weeks. Next option is to hand-paint the nutgrass leaves with glypho before it spreads too much.

Nutgrass, haven't heard of that, sounds funny though.

I mainly use basta now. It's a contact herbicide, yellows off in a within a week, doesn't spread like roundup on lawn edges. If you make a mistake on a lawn, which I have seen, it doesn't take 6 months to recover.

Try a bindi & clover killer on the nut grass. Something like Kamba M, or Tricombi should nail it.

The OP sounds like paraquat to me; if its purple & kills plants in 4 hours - nasty stuff!

That's disappointing! Have you tried Kamba mixed with Glypho?
