Veggie oil helps it stick to the leaves and makes it much more effective, could the purple stuff he used be a dye so he knew where he had sprayed?

if they were wilting after 4 hours, it certainly wasn't the roundup doing the work, sounds more like 2,4,5-t lol

    Ok good response,
Wasn't a die, stinking hot dry 42 degrees day, used only a 'capful'.
I hear alot of stories from old timers, cockys(farmers) other blokes, surley between all of youse, WHAT IS THE BEST?
What is the BEST KILLER of weeds? and HOW/IF, CAN YOU SPEED IT UP?
I use Gladiator, in Summer, no worries 2 or 3 days dying off, $88 for 20 litres.
Round up is only a name? you pay for it?

Gramoxone, the word sort of sounds familiar, ("probably wouldn't have been able to spell it") ,
    What is it?

    Farmoz 450
My local country rural store has a once year sale at the end of June. For the past two years it has been $75 for a 20ltr drum, so I get two drums. Other times of the year it is $90 and Roundup brand is $90 too.

    Delta Temperture,
Very basically if its too cold or too hot, your product is not going to be effective. Or spraying late on a colder/moist day when a still night is forecast is a no goer.

I just use the cheapest glyphosate 360 they have at bunnings and put about 80mL in my 4L sprayer. Kills just about everything. I used to put a bit of dishwashing liquid in it but it's not really necessary. I think they have a wetting agent anyway. The more vigorously a plant is growing, the more effective herbicides are going to be because of the way the herbicide works. So if you spray in late spring it will most likely work a lot more quickly than in mid winter. As gazza said it depends on the conditions when you spray as to how effective it will be. But basically, if you spray the right amount of glyphosate on a plant and allow it enough time to dry without being washed off, that plant will die eventually. I suppose some are more resistant than others and may need a second application. But it definitely does work. I explain to my clients that it can take up to 6 weeks for weeds to die off completely just to be safe.

I always add Consume to glypho, not just for its surfactant use, it also makes it easy to see whats been sprayed

Just keep an eye on the rates permitted for use in each state.

Some dilutions mentioned in this thread could be questionable in some places and could mark the operator unfavourably.

Gramoxone is dyed blue & starts working very quickly so could be it.

Active constituent is Paraquat. First line of the Paraquat label says "NOT to be used in the home garden"

Has been linked to Parkinson's Disease and is very toxic if swallowed or absorbed. Banned in 33 countries.
