Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
the ferris evolution looks worth investigating

Not a huge difference, they are both American brands and seem to offer similar machines with similar capabilities.
Toro seems to have a bigger distribution network and therefore parts should be easier to get in an emergency.
My local Dixon place is at Dural, where i bought the machine.
I have also heard less problems with Dixon ride-on's as oppossed to Toro's, that swayed me towards Dixon plus they seem to be sturdier.

another possible drawback could be the heat off the engine coming back onto you - interesting design though

I was trying to be civil....
I have even had head office stuff me around. Had a drive motor hydraulic line fracture and ordered the replacement. Wrong part was sent.
Call them up and they tell me I must be wrong because it came from the right parts bin even though I am standing there holding both parts while I talk to them.
Then they tried to tell me they couldn't send the right part until the received the incorrect item and I would need to pay the freight.
I won't ever buy another Dixon and now buy all my parts from the USA
