    Default Best self propelled mower

Ok I am looking into self propelled mowers. I live in Stanthorpe Qld. There is no honda dealer in town. There is now no victa dealer in town. I have a husqvarna dealer in town. I have a rover dealer in town. I have a mtd dealer in town. NONE of them have a 21 inch self propelled mower in stock so you can look at it. They all don't seem interested in stocking a 21 inch mower. It's "We can get you one in mate".
What if I don't like it too bad it's mine. Any how is the rover with chinese motor the best of these? I have no info on husqvarna mowers. Do the 21 inch husqvarna have a bar blade or swing backs and how low can they mow?
    Cheers

2 choices - if you want a catching mower, go the rover; if you want a dedicated mulcher victa 560...simple. Either way, any half decent mechanic can work on them if needed

I'd go the rover 22" with the chinese engine. Sp pro 560. The engine is as good as any honda motor in my opinion.

In the old days you had a 1 hp mower that you needed a horse float to move around......these days you get 5-6hp and you can chuck it in the boot.

Buy two Rovers for the price of one Honda then you've got a backup ready and waiting.

    Hi
I believe the rover is $650. I believe the mtd yardman 509x is $630. Mtd has a kohler xt-7 173cc engine. Rover has a chinese rover 910 engine. Rover engine throttle has 2 speeds stopped or flat out.
Mtd don't know if you can vary the throttle. The local dealer could not tell me that or how low they will cut. He thought they had 2 swing back blades. Are the kohler engines made in china too?
As I have to buy a pig in a poke we could throw the ebay things into the mix. Maybe a chonda? Wish I could find a victa 550 close to me.
    Cheers

From what I have experienced with honda and what I have been told about rover......Honda : change the oil occasionally, clean the filter and spray a bit of wd here and there and keep it clean and it will serve you well. Rover : maintenance, maintenance and a bit more maintenance or it just won't go.
