Just my opinion of the situation. I couldn't justify paying $7-$9K for a stand up machine.
I agree they are a lot of money, but being that they are a true commercial machine I don't think they are much more expensive than a normal zero turn of the same size in the commercial range. Even if they are more expensive than a comparable sitting zero turn, it may not be such an issue depending on how productive they are. Having said that you would be taking a big risk purchasing one if you didn't already have an adequate customer base.

I was reading a discussion on Lawnsite the other day about stand on mowers v's normal zero turns for mowing business's. The general consensus was that a stand on was defiantly the more efficient option for small to medium properties but that a sit down zero was still the better option on medium to large properties.

As much as I like the idea of these stand on mowers, I wouldn't like to be standing up the whole time on jobs that took an hour or more.

For sure, I mean for me $7-9K goes a long way towards buying a JD compact tractor which would allow me to be more competitive in the slashing game.

As everyone says on here, it's all relevant to your business and direction.

For some people it may be money better spent on a new trailer/vehicle etc.

    Just my two cents :P

I defiantly agree that these types of mowers are not for everyone, that's why I posted in the 'Considering a stand behind or small ZTR for residential lawns' thread.

Alltrade in Sydney is the Aussie importer/distributor for DC apparently.

Which site was that on? I could still see them listed when I had a quick search.

it was 34 not 36 http://www.houseofcycles.com/new_veh...0Mowers#detail not on the dixiechopper page now, smallest is 44" http://www.dixiechopper.com/mowers/silver-eagle not sure how 3 14.5" blades would go, spinning at 16000 instead of the usual 18000...still, looks bloody great

edit - just sent an email to the aussie distributor to see if they're still available

That makes more sense, I thought you were referring to the Wright 36 going by your last post.

Dixie chopper claim they are the worlds fastest mowers but but I couldn't imagine you would be able to use the top speed very often whilst mowing on a 34 inch, with such a narrow rear track width. My experience so far with zero turns is the wider the tires and machine the smoother the ride on uneven ground.
