Honda HRU216 Clutch
The 216 with a clutch version have been around for awhile now with the M1 & M2 has anyone out there ever worn out a clutch that needed replacing ?
In find the standard clutch slips very easily even when new.
I replace with an aftermarket one with a grey coating and it never wears out. I've rotated the same few discs over every mower for years now lol
Ok thanks
After 3 "D" versions over the years this is my first winter season using a blade brake Honda mower in the 216 range, not overly impressed using the extra clutch brake lever.Designed for dummies
I bought a HRU216M3 about 3 months ago. I find the clutch slips very easily in overgrown or wet grass. Never had the problem with my previous 216's. I asked my mower shop what has changed and they said nothing, probably just need to increase the rpm's, which I'm not keen on doing.
Also, without the snorkel I'm having clean the air filter daily when dusty as compared to only using 2 filters a year with the M2.
increasing the revs wont stop the clutch slipping.....

Yeah revs will just burn out the clutch quicker
I've found the stock clutch slips in long wet grass very easily.... sounds like engine is bogging down but it's just blades slowing... ridiculous
If you only ever mow regular lawns you may never notice
Best thing I ever did was put that aftermarket clutch on
Easiest way to test if the clutch isn't holding strong enough is to flip mower on side... if you can turn blade carrier around by hand without excessive effort then that's how easy it's gonna slip when mowing.... with the new clutch I can just turn it with a huge effort
Fair enough... I think they could do a lot better that's for sure.... Stihl has an EFI chainsaw and cut off saw and Honda gives us this lol
Has anyone with a 216m3 managed to fit a snorkel?
