As above
whats best or does it matter in a basic setup? 5-6 50mm popups max.
obviously 13mm is cheaper per m and so are the fittings.
any help appreciated

Independent and i know it
The bigger the pipe the more water you can get down it. If you're putting in pop ups then you will want 19mm atleast. If you want reticulation to be successful then buy what you need not whats cheapest
Indy and proud
As Kathryn said 19mm would be better and I would also put in 100mm pop ups. 50mm will barely lift Above the turf when it's long. Also don't forget your swing arms. What is the size of the area you are doing?
have you carried out a pressure test?. Coming off the main?, or "teeing" into a tap at rear of house?. A pressure test will determine what size poly you need with how many sprinklers used, giving you litres per hour used. I'm with stripes, 100 mm pop ups, with articulated risers (swing arms). Not trying to confuse you, but all questions i have asked are critical in producing a quality irrigation system. good luck!
