Thanks Dan, I grew up on the Central Coast, spent a bit of time in the Hunter, everyone we have spoken to have said it's pretty cold in Bowral.

I have sent the guy in Wagga an e-mail, and will give them a call on Monday to see what they can do, maybe we could get a better deal for two units?

The 23 EFI seems to have plenty of go, even through thick long kikuyu. I have the 48" combo deck with the double swing backs, I got them fixed tight as they would sometimes bang together. Mulches very well now, even the Autumn foliage. Almost as good as the Husqvarna 21AWD. Most properties you would find it hard to tell if it had been caught or mulched. The properties I maintain are quite large and catching was an extra $10000, ouch.

This machine looks pretty good for the money, it only has 74 hours on it, but I have haven't heard much about the brand?

Also I can get the 2 dump boxes that sit inside the catcher so I can empty the clippings into the green waste bins easily.
The 42" will still go through into most backyards with a big enough lawn to use a ztr on.
This will be a great asset to your business! Will you be using in combination with the 30" Dixon?

cylo, I have bought my acres in Bowral NSW, so I will service my current clientele as well as any new clients in the Southern Highlands.
Very nice place to live & on acres, doesn't get much better! Good luck with the walker purchase.

sorry for the hijack, but I have wanted to ask for a while, are the impeller fans for the catcher really as fragile as they are made out to be or is it all fear mongering? I nearly bought a diesel walker a few mths ago and was put off speaking to a few mower mechanics saying the fans are weak and costly to repair (parts+lab)?
I dont break things ...I just use them beyond their operational limitations

Mate when you say bang together was that at the tips? I had this problem with a set of mulch blades once and when I told my dealer he said bring the machine in as the deck timming was out, only two teeth ,never had the problem again

If I were starting out again this is the mower I would buy , the multi deck is great you can do anything you want with it, and changing from one to the other is easy. There was a video on you tube showing the multi deck in action but I cant find it. Dan your not going to put this on the back of the patrol are you?

If I can work out how to get it on I will.... but for now I have a trailer.
It's just a pain towing it around all the time.

The walker will do 90% of all the lawns the Dixon will do so after a year or so I don't think I will be using it much but...only time will tell.
It's very handy and fits up on the ute so I'm not in a hurry to sell it off. To be honest it's now going better than the day I bought it with a few choice mods so its worth more to me than its dollar value.

Has anyone had experience with an 18hp Kohler engine (presumably petrol) on a Walker with 42" multi-deck? The machine is a Walker MCGHS.

Looking at a second-hand unit that's done about 1800 hours but the deck is near new. Just curious about the engine. Asking price is around $6K.

    Hi Paul,
The current model mcghs have a 20 hp kohler engine, so im assuming the machine you are looking at is fairly old. When purchasing my walker I asked the sales rep how long to expect from my mc in a commercial environment. His
opinion was anything over 1500 hours with a petrol model and I would start to have problems. His recommendation to contractors was to turn the machine over at those hours.

I had the multi-deck fitted to my mower and highly recommend it.

Thanks Evan. This ones a 1999 model (on eBay) and looks like it's been used on a residential property but I was worried about the hours.

I got in touch with the mower guys in Bundy too and they had one of the Toros for sale still at teh older price. Very helpful over the phone. Really wanting to get onto a Walker or catching ZTR now but it's going to be a struggle in my price bracket.

Unless I knew what type of properties you service its hard for me to recommend a suitable catching ztr for your needs. However if I had my time over again I would defiantly consider a Husqvarna 42" with fab deck and blower assisted catcher. Pm me if this interests you as I was quoted an awesome price for one last week, but I think it may have been a bit of a mates rates price.

I stiil think walkers are awesome mowers but they can somewhat restrict the range of work you can take on as they are only designed for nice lawns.
