    Default Kubota Self Propelled Mower

Anyone use a Kubota Self Propelled Mower?
Looks like they could be an alternative to a honda. Only looked at one in shop haven't used one. Have fan above blade carrier so could be good for those with wet lawns. I need it to rain for the grass to grow.

My brother inlaw has an older one I found that it weighs to much for my liking. I could barely lift the thing. Just looking at the one above that Redeye posted the dry weight is at 62kg. My 20" is only 35kg and that's too heavy

HJL, the 'fan' above the blade carrier isn't just the blade-brake is is? Didn't see mention of a fan in the links from Redeye. Chute does look better than Honda in the diagrams but still only the 163cc donk. None in stock at the dealer here, bar the push version, but they are getting more so I'll be off to have a look too.

The Hondas are 53kgs now. You'd wonder where the extra 9kgs are in these Kubotas?

Au link says 4 blades and the UK links shows 2 blades. Could be an interesting mower in the four blade unit.

    Hi PaulG
The dealer here was going on about how they have a fan in them and catch really good. This was before he got one in stock so I took it with a grain of salt. To me it push better than the honda but that is just in the shop. So probably different in the real world. The model here is the W821SC-AU for $1495. According to the brouche it has a lowest setting of 22mm. The model W821S-AU goes down to 15mm. Good thing they don't have one of those in stock as I could be temped.

That's interesting. The two mowers seem identical except for wheel size, bumper bar and cut height.

Appears to be a remake of the Kabota W5021 that was available for a short period during the 90's. A Mighty mower indeed. For those of you contemplating the purchase of a Honda 216, do yourselves a favour and inspect a Kubota. You may just be surprised!

A couple of guys here have them and say they Prefer them over the honda. Speed is quicker as well
They were selling their Hondas cheap, as they no longer used them

    Downside is they are heavier.

Purchased my Kubota Self Propelled July 2014, for $1600, A sturdy more robust built Mower, in my view better than the previous Honda I used, so far there hasn't been any problems only replaced blades and changed oil. Quicker than a Honda. Yes it is a bit heavier and could do with more power, as has been mentioned in previous posts. Unfortunately in S.A. we haven't had any rain for about two months so we don't need much power to mow dust with a bit of grass.
