    Default What sort of tree is this?

    Same client wants to know what sort of tree this is. He is testing my very limited knowledge! Any ideas?

    Better pic as Red said, if you can.
    Im thinking Elaeocarpus reticulates, (Blueberry ash).
    Does it have light pink flowers & blue berries ?

    it looks familiar to me, Euro/American, the one I'm thinking of has yellow leaves just like it...golden something (I can't remember 90% of bot. names anymore (don't smoke!!))

    Looks like it is related to the Golden Elm tree. Golden Elm has the same type of leaf except that it is yellow in colour. Couple of better pics would be good.

    Mowbro, It is quite easy to tell whether it is an Elm. If you look at where the leaf joins the stem, one side of the leaf will join a couple of millimetres above the other side. It is very distinctive. If that doesn't make sense, post another photo of where the leaf joins the stem. Cheers

    So, I finally have the answer! It was a Carpinus Betulus 'fastigiata' also commonly known as a "Hornbeam".

    Great looking foliage in warmer months but also like its intricate branch structure when the leaves are gone!
