    Brett says it all ...

But missed out saying it is 'nasty prickly stuff'
... but you would already have found that out

My suggestion is control as for blackberries. except that there will be seed in the ground (& regrowth of new plants) for some years.
Take heart. Seed does not last as long as broom or Spanish Heath.
Positive side .... you might have a job/client for a few years.

    Horror!
This is how the environment gets overrun by environmental weeds, although I will concede (a tiny point) that taking off (some of) the flowers does reduce the seed set/dispersal a little.

This beast is a "WEED OF NATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE" and in Vic its status is regionally prohibited in East Gippsland and regionally controlled elsewhere.
Its survival should not be encouraged in any place.

To quote from the Aust Govt Environment website
"Gorse is a Weed of National Significance
It is regarded as one of the worst weeds in Australia because of its invasiveness, potential for spread, and economic and environmental impacts."

Well we should find a use for it maybe.
Like most invasive species we should harvest what is usuable and create viable industries around a pest problem

Instaid of spending big money to exterminate and not receive a cash income how about spending big, getting cash and reducing the problem species.

In queensland they dont burn the sugarcane in the field anymore, they collect it green and burn off the trash in a tumbler, the heat from which is used to generate power. Now in the off season they remove and chip up stands of camphor laurel and burn those for the powergeneration. Much better than just poisoning tree and leaving them to rot.
Also their wood has the best natural anti septic properties of anywood making it great for chopping blocks/boards

Then there is the feral pig harvest. Now now matter what your status on guns is, they still take millions of feral pigs out of the bush and harvest them for meat export every year.

Unfortunately the control the of pest species should not be left to gov and land owners to remove for the sake of just exterminating it as it NEVER works and is never cost effective. :
Once they are here they are here, australia is just too big a place.

You only have to look at the "deer Management Plan" in the royal national park south of sydney, it costs the national park close to $5000 per deer culled and thats just plain insanity.

All im saying is you could make some wine with it, and I hate waste.

And to answer the initial question, Burn it, then stake a goat next to it

Camels will eat it along with thistles, the best weed control for paddocks is to let a camel in with the sheep or cattle!

goats are better than sheep, also their stomachs reach a temp high enough to cook the seeds i believe

Looks a lot like Barley Grass, but I'm unsure, if it is.
