Did the 50 odd mtr long hedge at ladder height this morning and its on a slight downhill slope in the heat and humidity created by the leafy hedge and sprinkler watered lawns.
Was knackered upon completion and decided to mow their front/back lawns another morning. Too Hot with the forecasted 44.
    Cheers Garry

If I have to use a ladder, its called ladder height you know how many times the ladder gets moved. Only short at 2mtr sized ladder required to high soil end at 2.4 sized ladder at lower slope end, So hedge about 2.2 to 2.4mtr high when cut. It was not done when due last time as client said leave it to thicken. There was lots of tall cut debris to remove too, Plus there is a 1.8mtr metal loop fence within it to watch on one side. His front hedge is no ladder required, but hard up against a house and the hedge is wide. Not the scissor lift height or platform stuff you do.
Used the Husky extended battery hedger unit with 5.2amp battery as usual. Smaller battery is better balanced and lighter and lasts for ever.

People only want their house done asap. The heat is your problem not there's, delay too long 1-1/2 week or more and they will find someone else. It's already happened to me since New Yrs eve. Your've been in the game years/decades more than me and know it well.
Got to work every day this week and wed is 45, thur 43, frid 44, but they will be shorter days. Only do hedges for current customers, decline all calls for hedge trimming from people I don't know. It's not my favourite past time, I do get a lot calls for hedges and I pride myself on dead straight tops, very slightly cambered top edges & non wavy sides. Even the job today has resulted in spin off calls over the years.
    Cheers Garry

Garry, really feeling for ya, that heat in the north of the state is relentless !
Personally, I couldn't live there. Im an outdoors person but, I want to be comfortable. 40+ everyday for weeks on end aint for me.
Thing is in in on coming years its predicted to get even hotter ?
Constant temps like these can bring ppl to snapping point.
    Look after yourself FIRST Gaz.

    Cheers Fred.

    Thanks Fred,
I deleted the post you read and blanked it clear before you posted But what you saw is the way it is.
Been in bed since 2.00pm to muster the strength to keep going with the help of Gatorade. For day 2 tomorrow of a luxury home garden job.
It s hard to work for disrespectful customers. The worst one was on 45 deg day when I called at Midday to say I can’t make it today and not for 2 days as the next day was 44 and I had other customers booked. I received a serve for delaying that regular good paying job. There are many more similar.

I’m a lucky one, I have the means to comfortably Retire whenever I choose. But it would be nicer if Trump stopped making enemies.
    Cheers Garry

And in a thread about the weather I thought you were following the old rule of if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

I got the email which contained your original valid comments. I agree 100% with your sentiments, there are some very disrespectful people, and often they are the ones working in the air conditioned environment, and they are the first that get knocked off my list when a new one comes along.

The advantage of people ringing you is when you turn up to a nearly dead lawn that looks the same as when you left last time you know they want it done and shouldn't complain
