Tinamba got the brunt of the floods which is about 15 minutes from me ( Sale ) and now Longford ( 5 minutes away ) is flooding as the Glenmaggie weir ( where water is held in a BIG dam lol ) gates had to be opened to let water escape as there were concerns of to much water pressure on the weirs wall

yeah well we had floods not long ago here in Sale and roads closed off and even the princess hwy to stratford was closed as the bridge was flooded across the hwy. Its either bush fires or floods here at the moment....No one can win

yeah the weirs gates have to be opened when we have so much rain because when the weir is so full they rather open the gates and let some water out then leave the gates shut and then the possibility of the water pressure breaking through the wiers gates then theres nothing stopping the water and that would cause devastation for sure

It's hot and humid up this way at present - no surprises there! It's also the time of year that a lot of people leave the tropics after finishing their uni studies/ year's contract work/ whatever, so there are lots of tenancy exit/ clean-up jobs on our schedule at present. We do have a slightly higher hourly rate for these clean-ups, tho, so we're smiling while we work, getting in some much-needed extra cash for Christmas ... and the taxman - I O, I O $1000+ oh oh! )
We're drinking a heap of Gatorade as part of our fluid replacement + to help replenish the electrolytes we're losing in sweat - I wish I had shares in the company!!! An ambo friend of our alerted us to boost up the electrolyte replacement as he has seen a lot of people recently who work in the great outdoors with severe health issues from not staying properly hydrated. It should be enough to drive you to drink (more water, etc.)
    Ciao for now ~ Christine
senior partner of "Townsville Lawn Care"

"Twin Cities Lawncare" was re-named in 2008
due to the amalgamation of two local councils -
Due to confusion of previous/current business name,
I'm opting to post in here as Christine Wharton now

Hi Christine, there's an electrolyte replacement product you can buy at vitamin stores etc, it's close to $30 for a tub, but will work out much cheaper than gatorade and is a far superior product, just mix it with water, it'll save you heaps and you'll definitely feel better at the end of those long hot days.
It's called Endura, and no, I don't have shares in the company !

Endura ay. I havn't heard of that one. Will have to give it a go. Place I worked up in the NT used to supply us with SQUINCHER (think thats how you spell it). Anyway was pretty good, but you can only have 2 to 4 glasses a day otherwise you'll blow up (not sure what happens but apparently its not good).
