62mm of rain in the last 24 hours, and unlike 2 weeks ago when it all fell in an hour, this time it has had time to at least wet the ground a bit.

MONSOONAL would be the best description of the current weather here...lots of rain and high humidity. Getting the mowing done is a challenge - ducking out long enough after showers for the grass to be dry-ish, then home again after the clouds open up again. Lots of places around town aren't being mowed frequently enough, because there just isn't enough "dry" time...and the grass is growing twice as fast to boot, esp the seeding Paspalum.
These photos were taken at our home today, during an especially heavy downpour.

You know the story, put your clothes on the line and it is bound to rain.

Sunshine up here today till about 15:30'ish. More rain tomorrow they say. Not a breath of wind at the moment and lightning in the distance. Hey Twin Cities I hear there's a severe whether warning out for you guys and south to Bowen ay. Batten down the hatches.

More super-heavy downpours this morning as a result of a low pressure system crossing the coast here, and no use going out til late in the afternoon after a bit of a breeze dried things out enough to do a few jobs before dark.
Check out the way the local dam levels have peaked tho, as a result of the recent rain...http://www.nqwater.com.au/?page=87. The current level 2 water restrictions will probably stay in place, but the level 3 restrictions they were talking about will probably be staved off now.
I'm hoping we get some periods of sunshine tomorrow so we can get out and about to MOW MOW MOW. I hope you can get caught up a bit on your backlog too, mojo...

Grass and shrubs are growing like they've had a fistful of fertiliser at present, so they definitely can't call Townsville "Brownsville" now. The Ross River Dam is nearly full to capacity after all this rain and will provide the residents here with a supply for the next couple of years, even if we don't get a good wet season next year, they say.
The rain has really brought on some lush growth and each job is taking longer as a result. Not many lawns can be mulch mowed and some days we do a couple of trips to the dump to empty the trailer of all the grass clippings, prunings and palm leaves. We've done some really feral clean-up (mostly real estate/bond) jobs of late - thigh high grass, weeds and piles of palms <shudder>
The days are long catching up on the backlog, draining due to the high humidity, but rewarding in many ways as well...maybe next week we might be back on schedule if it doesn't rain again between now and then

Hope you's get the break you need. Good to see the dams filling. I had to leave a job half done yesterday when the heavens opened up (I hate doing that) and it bucketed down. Was hoping to get back there this morning but not looking good Oh well...Ho Hum...
