Yeah we are climbing up all week from 32 today up to 41 on Xmas eve then down to 35 for Xmas day. Not much lawn mowing around here now, lucky I have heaps of gardens and a few hedges to do.
Over 50mm rain here in around an hour late today plus hail. Roads partially flooded in some parts of town. Hail stripped my beautiful Tomato crop which was just starting to fruit..... not happy... Best looking Tomatoes I'd grown for years.
Bugger,
It's gona be some slogg this week with the forecast below, mowing dried up dusty lawns and over 35 is too hot to do tall hedges which I have a couple booked.
Need to work N/Yrs day too to catch up, plus Saturday on the weekend is booked for a church that have their christmas on Sunday 6th Jan with the forecast at 39.
Glad I've got a good supply of heat rash cream and 1% cortisone cream incase the dry grass starts a skin rash/itch. As I've not had any heat rash issues this year, YET
Guess I'm lucky to have a 58,000ltr landscaped open tank to jump into when I get home each day.

Found a positive out of that above post, all light winds, so the extreme fire danger side of things is less as I live in semi rural allottment type area on a hill side.
But the landscape will be so dry that with the next 39/40 forecast attached to strong northerlies it will be a high alert day.
Several years back Elvis and his other flying mates hovered so close to us looking for water without wasting time going to the murray which is quite close. After that event we increased House/Contents insurance quite significantly as garden hosing red embers at 2.00am has that kinda effect on one.
Cheers Garry
badly need rain here - should be flat out this time of year, struggling to find a blade of grass to cut ( and I'm too honest/concientious for my own good)

When the hot dry days start to get you down have a look at the weather charts and look up weather in Birdsville (used to be Marble Bar but Birdsville is the winner for the moment) The coolest day in the next week is 42 degrres, the hottest 45 degrees and clear and sunny every day. Wouldn't like to be a lawnie in that area
I think they just rake the bulls-heads and prickles out there.
Getting to the point where we need rain down here in Melbourne. The couch especially is looking very dry.
unfortunately nothing forecast for 2 weeks. i changed about 1/2 the lawns i did yesterday from 2weekly to 3 weekly, on the bright side i won't have to work as hard through the 30o+ days coming up and i may finally be able to get garden work done for some of my clients
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
I think the weather will be the least of your concerns by then maybe roads / suspension would be a concideration. Should be a great trip though can't beat a good road trip
OK I've been banging on about the Albury/Wodonga now forecasting 40 to 42 over several days straight.
But have a look at Birdsville, just maddness and dangerous. Lowest 45 highest 50. Ten day forecast from the Weather Channel.
Cheers Garry
