nice temperture... the ground was a bit too wet today for my liking and the drizzle from time to time made it a well deserved day off mowing for me.

After all that extreme heat and dry conditions I won't be complaining about a bit of dewmidity. Though the ground has appeared wet, I have found that after a quick blow off, most lawns come up looking great even after mulching. I only got a bit damp yesterday from trimming hedges for 4 hours. You need to harden up simmo

Looked like rain all day while I chainsawed fallen trees and generally cleaned up one of my favourite places after the 200mm the other week. Two loads to the tip, on the second load it just bucketed down while I was unloading.....the rain was heading towards the job, managed to beat it back, pack up all my gear and by the time the rain hit I was sitting back on the verandah with the client having a cool (light) beer......with $350 in my pocket (go the MS170)..... .

I've never been told to harden up before... but always a first!

It was only a well deserved day off (as mentioned!!!) as I worked 7 days prior between 10 - 12 hours a day to catch up... and had a dentist appointment in the morning. I could have worked in the afternoon but glad i didn't!

I backed it up today leaving home at 6.30am and arriving back home at 8.30pm just in time to put the kids in bed... and the next few days are already out of control.

Overall the ground is still very moist (rained this morning very lightly between 5.30am - 6am) but i still headed out and got dirty... but absolutely fantastic mowing weather today after 10am.

If it's raining i won't work... I will do some marketing work for clients or spend time with the family and have a day off... Also, there is nothing worse than grass stains on the pathways and mud trails on the lawn on new concrete and lawns!

The missus has requested that i'm home by 6pm tomorrow night for valentines day... not sure exactly why, but almost no chance for that as she keeps on booking more clients in

    I hope that covers everything

I can't answer that one to be honest as my expectations change on a hourly basis... I know it's not mowing in the rain with a S/P though! Maybe it would be ok with a ride on? I might buy one to try it out.

Thanks for that Mick. That's Chris Nitsopolous who last I heard is a school teacher at Charters Towers.. He really knows his weather and explains things so it's easy to understand.
Looks like the wet season isn't over in the north yet. Talking to friends at Richmond & Hughenden and it's still really dry there in parts.

Hopefully it will extend down this way and extend our growing season a bit longer.

Been getting cool here lately at night. Been seeing smoke coming out of the chimneys up on the mountains, so I'm starting to get organised for firewood deliveries already.

From the amount of ant activity I'd say we're in for more rain. The ants are going off building there nests in the turf. My deck got so clogged up yesterday that it started wearing the sail tip on the blades.
Anyway, I sure hope its a longer season, it got off to a bad start!

Ed - getting the same chill in the air here at night on the hill. Gees I've even had to go back to closing the windows, wearing clothes and snuggling in under a blanket!

Mick - ants going crazy here as well with mounds getting bigger so there's sure to more rain coming.
