It was followed up with a cold dry winter, a hot dry spring and a mild dry summer. This year we had basically no rain between january and june. We had about a week or 2 of good rain in june from memory. But nothing since then. It's now october which should be one of the busiest months. Many of my good clients would weekly by now. Instead I am doing drivebys after 4 weeks. The bills keep comin, but there's bugger all comin in.

Had the same problem of job regularities dropping during the last drought here in SA. I originally started out mowing only and wouldn't touch anything else. Had to diversify into irrigation & gardening, even window cleaning to keep busy. If you cant cut their lawn maybe ask the client if you can provide another service instead. Sometimes the client may think that you only cut lawns. Inform them of other services you provide.

Bit sprinkly with the odd downpour lasting about 5 mins, I also need rain to get them bugs breed'n....my lawn is looking good, water it on a 2 daily basis, water is cheap, 1000 litres for $2.14, never understand why my street folk let it just dry out, then with a little rain the weeds go hell 4 leather. I hate ****ty looking so called yards, 1000 litres of H2'O is cheaper than a can of V.B.... I drink both!!

Yeah mate. I'm pretty much over it. I don't mind the work but struggling to pay my way is no good for the family. And relying on the weather is a mugs game. I'll keep at it for a while longer. I have some really good clients in my area which I will look after for a couple of years yet. I'm thinking of just mowing part time to keep up my fitness while I site on my arse at the computer doing web design and stuff on non mowing days. One thing I have enjoyed is being home with the wife and kids and the new baby recently.
