Never drink Gatorade or other stuff when really hot like 40 degrees I just have bottles of frozen water and drink this all day. I also use a wet scarf around my neck and shoulders otherwise just lots of water. Some people use wet vest and can work all day with these. I usually pull the pin at about 1.30 EDST and then go back about 4.30 to finish the day off at about 6.30 or 7

Nup, you must replace the electrolite things, banana's help, drinking heaps of water is ok, but its just that..water, you/we must keep the electrolites in our system, I read somewhere a guy in the Blue Mountains almost died from exhaustion from drinkin too much water, no electrolites to re-vamp the system. I freeze a 1.25ltr bottle and sip on it and add water as the day goes on, i'm usually buggered by lunch but not dehydrated.

Back to three week mows or we'll call you - the terrific rain of a month or so before xmas has certainly dried up - back to mowing dust again in some places. Used to watch my old man struggle with the elements when growing up on a dairy farm and always swore never to be in that situation - well guess what? Another hot spell this week into the high 30's plus and no rain..

You know it's hot when you walk past the back of an air conditioner out side that normally blows out hot air and it cools you down so you stand there for a minute drying off

We've had a little light rain and some good humidity around here to keep the grass growing. But it's pretty dry still. With temps in the mid to high 30s next week the dust bowl could be back. In saying that there is also rain predicted most days so it could work out well. I nice big thunderstorm will be ideal.

I am on winter mowing schedule and look like staying on it for all of summer. We are not meant to get any decent rain until March. Lucky I got gardeners and people who water their lawns from the irrigation systems I installed otherwise I would be scratching my bum and getting fat LOL. Don't like the forecast what ever grass we have will be burnt off by next Saturday.

Scorcher in Melbourne today, with more to come. Lucky we had a fishing trip booked today instead of work. Port Phillip Bay blew up nasty just prior to lunch, was like a pond in the morning quite beautiful actually, water clarity was good to around 8m.

Don't see much of a season round Hunter Valley this year for mowing - much as I enjoy it there's simply no continuity to it. Get a good season followed by a bad season or two. This is as bad as its got since I started out and getting a bit sick of it. Its not as bad as some because we have other income but still gets bl...y frustrating. Might have to look at other options because any income from mowing has dried up for this year I think. That's the whinge, at least we haven't got it as bad as you mexicans, saw Albury / Wodonga and Melbourne areas weather predictions for the next week and really feel for you guys - hopefully the weather improves for you and us as well..

Hang in their, the lifestyle we enjoy is too good to dismiss. I have always aimed for a customer base with mainly good gardens as that's a part of my income not just the lawns.
The gardens develop strong growth leading into November and after Feb. But some of my customers lawns are getting crunchy, but theirs still plenty of work and quite a few shrub pruning and hedging jobs on hold whilst it too hot for that kind of stuff. Plus the commercial stuff just needs doing every fortnight as a given.

Yes Albury/Wodonga 43 to 41 everyday till Sunday's much needed cool change down to 36 and then it will climb again. I have a pool + super cold beer for when I get home and plenty of work, 43 tomorrow and I will out working till 1.00pm. You can't not work because everyday is in the high 30's or over 40 and you can't hold customers for the whole summer.

May the Greek Gods responsible for rain give us 30 -40 mls soon.
    Cheers Garry

Actually love the heat Fred apart from getting sun burnt, it doesn't really bother me. This week you'll see me smiling. Winter when its 10 degree's and blowing from the south, not so much.
