Hey Ed, I was wondering how you were going without the rain! Been a bloody dry season thats for sure. Fair chance of El Nino later this year now too so might even get harder.
    35hrs on the machine… Sh!t! Hindsights a b!tch isnt it!

While I havent been run off my feet, by any stretch, Ive had an ok season. Only on occasion have I missed a couple of cuts on regular lawns due to dryness. Way better than last year where I couldnt get onto properties being so wet.
Only problem Ive had is loosing customers from selling or moving and replacing them with good regular customers. So far, I have the same number as I started the season with but with less income. Thats not great coming into winter!

I've had approx 50mm of rain so far so that will help keep things going for a while. Was good timing!

Hey guys, wish I could send some of syd rain up your way! but good to hear you have had some.

We've had much the same season here as the previous, very dry and quiet over summer then flat out and too wet coming into autumn. rain keeps coming, getting behind on spraying jobs & its creating bogs on the acreage props, makes a mess of the ride on and damages the grounds with ruts as u all know very well. But it could be worse like in your case ed, I could have very little work at all.

Hi Mick & Cylo. Yes things didn't pan out like the business plan said it should, but you can't fight nature. The last 3 years, I have been doing 300 hrs a year on the Gravely so was hoping for about 150 hrs on each of them this year, but not to be. Maybe next year.

Been away for a few days & came home this arvo and it looked like I had missed out on the rain. No puddles and no water in the dam. But the ground was so thirsty it has soaked it all up. 76mm in the gauge and still raining nicely.

HOLY CRAP!!!! Had a big day today as the next few days will be a write off, so tried to get a few extra in to reduce the imminent back log. Was home for a quick late lunch and cyclone Ita was a cat 3, just checked the BOM site and she's now a cat 5.Very unusual for a cyclone to build during the day (usually build overnight) so it will be interesting to see what happens overnight. All the bad stuff is to the south of a blow, but hopefully she stays far enough north of us here in Cairns to be of no real concern. But these things are predictably unpredictable. Yasi was heading straight for us a few years back but fortunately turned a little further south 12 hours out from landfall. Was planning on having a good few sherberts tomorrow and enjoy the day off, but will have to re-evaluate that now. Whatever happens happens, just have to be a bit more on the toes now.

Yeah not much swell here either, was going to get up for an early but a southerly change is on its way tonight so might have a sleep in. SUPs are not frowned upon around here, there are a few guys out on them all the time, its not as crowded as up there though.

I am good friends with Mark he used to make me a lot of boards years ago. At the moment I am getting him to sign a few posters for my boys that I will get framed and hang on their bedroom walls. He still gets out there and rips.

It's not so bad up here,I stay away from the points anyway as I like my serenity and sanity lol and you always find a quiet beach break if it's not blowin a gale.

That's cool, MR and MP are my favorites of the short board era

    How good is that!!
Well you tell Mark when you see him I still havnt forgiven him for dropping in on me at winkipops back in 1981 lol
I was also at the first Margaret River Thriller competition in 1984 (I think) Mark turned up after driving across the nullabor in a black Porsche. The surf rose to 20ft in the final between him and Occy. It was Huge!! never seen it that big before, Mark was treating it like a 3ft beach break, he lost only because he didnt get enough wavesbecause he lost his board and had to swim.
He is my all time favorite. Sorry Kelly...

You guys are bringing back some great memories.. My first surf I ever had in QLD was around 1979 at Duranbah, there was this guy out there that was spending more time in the tube than not. It was MP..
