Dry as a dead dingo's you-know-what here. 36degs today, 20% humidity. Been so long since we've had rain. My own lawns have never looked so bad. My couch lawn in the front yard is turning to dirt from the boys playing out there every day.

Hey Courty, how'd you go with that storm last night? It missed me, didnt get a drop! That could very well be my week over now!
Not a drop Mick, nothing nada zilch.
I have a bad feeling about this season

I got a few little bursts of rain last night, the forecast for rain next weekend looks ok so far.., well until it gets downgraded to nothing much lol, It even got downgraded since I looked at it earlier this morning

Same old story here - rain clouds blow in, a bit of wind and rain clouds blow away. Local radio station DJ constantly raving about the beaut sunny hot weather. Could break into his ac'ed little office and beat the s..t out of him. Not looking like a productive summer atm.
I have a lawn to lay , its $2000 worth of grass and they don't like to water, Im a bit worried about doing it in this heat, but what can ya do they are rich and want a new lawn for Christmas, I will water it when I lay it but I have so much work on I wont be back everyday to see that it is getting watered
I give the client a watering plan and tell them to stick to it. Tell them they just spent $2000 on turf and if it's not watered it'll die.
Yep, Just had a quote accepted for a turf laying job.
Told them it would be wise for them to have me install an irrigation system at the same time, would be easier & cheaper than to retrofit further down the track.
Quality system but just with a tap timer, not fully automated (also gave them that option), would cost an extra 20%.
They wouldn't go for it .
I dont understand this attitude, insurance, convenience & an asset....................... oh well, its their choice.
Cheers Fred.
fred same here even a commercial office they wanted same but wouldnt invest in a simple auto system,i actually declined because i know it will die and they will blame me..i dont want the hassle of people complaining....yet another office complex has a system wanted it fixed and wants green grass no quote just fix it,now that the customer i love.
sometimes it good money to do a job but i reckon if it doesn't sit right walk away because when it goes wrong they will whine even if its not your fault .. job has to be done right or otherwise it will haunt you.....
Yes Geoff, I will be reconfirming that once the turf is lay'd & they are happy with the istallation, I am happy to help them with any probs, but its not my responsibility.
Cheers Fred.
Ed, I can only imagine how dry it is out your way!
Every time I said that there was rain or a storm predicted, there was. Its just sh!t to be made a lier of all the time.
Storms predicted for the weekend. Should I mention it to them? Think I'll keep quiet this time! Nothing really to cut now anyway.
Yes Mick. We had 90% chance of 10-20mm forecast for this weekend coming, but it was downgraded to 1-5mm +before I could put out the alert
Going up the mountains tomorrow. I haven't mowed them since the start of June. Wallabies trim off any growth and the heat of the last few days will have knocked it about too. But my old ribs are sticking out too much, so the lawns up there will get a mow anyway.
Just doing my own irrigation system at home got me thinking how difficult it must be to quote correctly for a proper irrigation system, I am amazed at how often I have to spend $50 here and $50 there for more bits, and then another $20 here and there for things i have stuffed up. I'd like to get in to that side of things because it interests me but do people have that sort of money. There are still heaps of dead systems around killed by the last big drought. Lots of irrigation systems in yards (albeit some dodgy ones) not being utilised. People should spend money on irrigation and understand watering rates before planting a garden.
