At long last!!!!!! Finally getting some decent rain - been such a long, hot, humid spell (6 weeks). Some days we had a good breeze from first thing in the morning, but that was very rare. Quite a few days there was no breeze at all, they were the real killers. Everyone has been struggling as it gets to you after a while - commonly known as 'Mango Madness'. Rain started yesterday 'arv around 3 and has been totally overcast with frequent showers since. Good soaking rain but not enough to flush out the swimming holes, need the torrential stuff for that. Should be the same tomorrow and clearing on Monday, but we'll see what happens. So nice to have a cool lazy weekend.
Ended up getting app 350mm from 3 friday arv till 9 this morning (sunday). More than what we expected, so the creek has had a bit of a flush and is still up. Ended up working today doing a couple of my high earning commercial jobs as the weather was looking reasonable, so gave it a go. Got a bit wet in the last 15 mins, nothing major, so all is good. Glad to see the end of that extended heat spell. Lucky dip for the rest of the week, and take it day by day for the next 3 months now the wet has started.
Batten down the hatches, sounds like we're going to cop a flogging the next few days in SE QLD!
Place is already soaked so flooding's going to happen. 300 to 600mm of rain! Possibly more! Check Higgins Storm Chasing on FB. Good info from that guy!
King tides, up to potentially 5m waves, 90km/hr onshore winds. Beach erosion likely, and that excites me! I want the good old days when there was no beach at my local! Deep water right through to the shorey! Man, it was great!
But, thats being selfish! The wet's going to suck!
Yep. Getting dry here so you blokes will be flooded
Cheers

"Success occurs when no one is looking, failure occurs when everyone is watching."
Grass growth has slowed down here but 50-100mm forecast for the next few days. I don't look at Hollywood Higgins page, but he probably envisages an ark nestled on top of the Bunya Mountains by the weekend
Growth had actually moderated a bit here too with the cooler Southerlies. I missed most lawns last week due to rain so now, there going nuts again.
I just got rained out, got 2 done, both over grown from missed last week. Had 2 + more overgrown ones to go but thought, fcuk it, Im going home! One of those will be a nightmare to get back into shape. I'll try and get some vid when I do it.
That Higgins is a bit of a d!ck but Ive found him to be pretty accurate for around here. Used his predictions a lot last couple of seasons and found them good enough to plan work off. But I do like the name "Hollywood Higgins!" Pretty much covers it! ha
He's a very important man dont you know! ha
My fortnightly jobs in sydney have slowed down too in sydney ( Bankstown )
no idea why though we have has some rain, grass is green but still not alot of growth on some...
Wax up mick , swell is coming... pictures please
Get onto Coastalwatch and Rainbow Bay cam. Its pumping on Greenmount point as I write this! 100 guys out though!
Had a surf out the Alley last Friday. Worst surf of my life! I am soooooo not surf fit! I barely made it out and then I had floppy arms to fight against a relentless wind, current and clean up sets. Only 20 guys or so out but man, struggled to get a wave. Then the wind picked right up and blew me in! lol
Ill have to stick to the beach breaks for a while to get that fitness up. It was embarrassing. Back in the day I could paddle against the strongest currents for hours. Now, um, not so much! ha
Point is, only place firing now is Snapper through Kirra. The current down there is insane and then deal with the crew! Nope!
But, I'll probably go have a look tomorrow. Too wet to mow anything so I'll probably go have lunch or something. I'll try and take some vid for ya if its any good.
There was a guy doing tow in out the Alley today. See what happens with that as well!
