We had our entire December rainfall in Adelaide in 24 hrs. Just over 30mm. When I was up at paintball at Tarlee today one of the other referees lives there. They had 75 mm. Not bad for dry dusty SA. Cleared up a bit today but is back tonight. Gotta be happy with that but it has spoiled the cherry crop. They have all split and we normally go up the hills to pick them on the farm fresh but they are 95% gone so it looks like store bought cherries this year

You gotta feel sorry for farmers when that happens they pray for rain nothing happens they manage to get scrape a crop together then it rains and ruins the harvest

I had a mate who went up to see what things were like to day. The owners of the farm we go to are really nice people and they are devastated. Cherries are their big cash crop and this it the time of year they make their money. When it rains like this they virtually split overnight and then they are not work a cracker except for jam

I feel for those cherry farmers, didnt realise rain could be bad for farmers as well as good. From a personal point of view though, gotta be happy with 80mm.

What happens with the cherries is that the fruit actually soaks up the water. I had thought it was the tree but the grower explained it is the fruit. That is why it happens so fast

The forecast is for 41 degrees here today. I have just hand watered all my plants as today is our allocated day. It is 26 deg already and there is a strong northerly blowing. There is bound to be some idiot lighting a fire somewhere around here today you can bet on it.

I am only working outside in the morning. Gonna do my book work and website stuff this arvo in the air con. Gonna get an early start now.

Good luck in the heat! It really takes it out of you. Sydney too is going to be scorching later in the week apparently.
