this is getting boring now 45 se suberbs of melbourne 3 days in a row , the grass is dead , customers cancelling lawns , pot plants and vegi garden wilting but cool change comming they say down to 35 tomorrow...the sound if grass crackling under the boots oh what a feeling and the dust bloom in the morning from the muclhing mower , dunno why i am mulching cause theres nothing to mulch.. most customers are happy with some alternative work like spraying or racking up etc, one good thing this will kill off the weekend and part timers undercutiing honest businesses

Yep know the feeling. We are on our 5th day in a row now and no let up over the weekend either. The forecast for next week is just about the same I think the lowest they reckon it will get is 38. It has been keeping up overnight as well which is making people cranky and to top that off there are multiple power outages as transformers blow and the authorities are load shedding. The animals are all feeling it and they are saying on the radio there has been a surge in deaths in dogs. The birds I feed each arvo are coming in gasping so I have misted them with a hose.

Bugger the water restrictions as far as I am concerned I am not gonna let the poor buggers cook. When I drive around the streets I see a lot of new el cheapo pools with kids splashing around in them so a bit of mist on the magpies is Ok by me.

My own lawns are still holding though. Something to be said for greywater. They need a mow but I am not game enough yet with the temps as they are. At least with a bit of extra time up my sleeve I can get those little jobs done at home I have been putting off.
    Cheers

Hi new here, thought I would introduce myself
I live in Esperance, Western Australia and am just starting up a mowing and landscaping round, only been going for a week but already three regulars and a one acre landscaping contract. The weather here has been strange as well, it got to 45.6 degress on the Monday and then we got 97ml of rain in the following two days. Great forum by the way!

Well we are still copping it....just got in and the official temp is 39 but if it reaches 40 we have had 7 straight days of it over 40 and that will beat the record set in 1903. Out the Back of my my place under the pergola it is 42 so I reckon we have made an official 40. There is supposed to be a cool change coming Thurs or Fri but I am not holding my breath. The papers are all saying how the death rate amongst the elderly has gone up. Some of the poor buggers cannot afford to run their fans and air cons. That is were the Government needs to step in an help them out. All the lawns are dust just about. We had a grand total of 0.8 mm of rain for all of January.

Send us down some of that rain you are getting Mowjoman.
