This spring in Melbourne looks like it will be the best for sometime. You would have to go back 13 years i reckon to match the growth we are having now. Newbies if your thinking about starting now is the time. Some rain over summer and i'll think about buying a BMW for work lol

We've had 100mm of rain at my place, since last friday, that is about 1 hour south of sydney on the coast.

I had a couple of questions for the Victorians, I believe you guys have been getting some good rainfall, what sort of temperatures have you been getting?

What are the majority of turfgrasses down there your maintaining, are they mostly cool season, rye, fescues or warm season, couch, kikuyu, buffalo. The cool season varieties would be powering?

S/E Suburbs of Melb, mainly kikuyu with some couch & buffalo.
Unless u have your own water supply, tall fescue takes too much water to keep green/alive. We,ve had a little rain but the temps r still quite mild/cold. A little warmth & it will power away .
    Cheers Dean.
    Ps. Lots of weeds too

My area most peoples have capeweed, clover or the occasional fescue lawn. But mainly capeweed.

A lot of the estates being built around here now have recycled water
so they do tend to have some nice fescue lawns.

It is so dusty and the grass is so brown here but some how it has also been fairly busy doing pruning, garden tidy ups, odd job ect....... busy but cruisy

I am amazed at how a couple of days or warm dry weather has dried things out over here. Even with all the rain we have had over winter you can see things dying off

Same here in Melb. Shows how important constant spring rains are. Still going to be a very dry Summer, crusty lawns again before Nov is finished without more good rain.

Weather bureau forecaster Tony Auden said "Brisbane residents should have their mowers out by late next week."

I really hope he is right although it is weather forecasting and they never get it wrong do they?
